Who is changing their name and to what extent? i.e. only socially, legally. I can't decide what to do.

Re: Name Change
For the longest time I thought I would be completely change my last name. But now I'm second guessing that. Due to the fact that my oldest daughter has my last name (FH isn't her DF). So when I have to sign things with 'Garcia' I feel like the teachers and what have you are going to be like 'Who the heck is Mrs. Garcia' Also I love my dr signature.. I don't know how I would change it too..LOL

Re: Name Change
According to the woman at the town hall, your name is only legally changed once you go to the SS office. You can socially go by your last name immediately.

Re: Name Change
Changing my name legally (slowly as things expire) and socially. However, professionally I will still go by my maiden name.

Legally I am changing my name. Socially, I will Be Mrs. Michele Piscitelli-McCann.
Going Irish 100% is hard for me. I'll miss people mispronouncing my name. LOL. Plus is hard to give up my unique and super Italian last name.

Re: Name Change
I'm changing my name. I want the same last name as our children. I plan on doing it as soon after the wedding as possible...get it over with and start dealing with the paperwork issues right away. Woo hoo.

Ha ha ha! That's something I would be happy about too.... I'm H though so I was never too bad... I'm being downgraded though... moving all the way to S!
I'm changing my name. I won't hyphenate it.. but I might keep both just so it's that much easier. I wil change it legally.

Re: Name Change
I was on the fence about this because I loved my last name, it was unique. I felt sort of sad giving up my name. I thought about hyphening it but its too long. In the end I changed my name, it takes a lot of time getting use to it.

Re: Name Change
I might keep my last name at work (the kids and colleagues have known me by my last name for almost SIX years now), but change it legally for other stuff. I have to see how that works taxes-wise before I make my final decision. I kinda like my last name. . .having a hard time going from a 'C' last name to a 'Z' last name. The kids will have the Z last name no matter what, though.
