How many LI brides will be taking their husband's last name? And, what are the 'rules' on hyphenated names? Would my maiden name become my middle name?

Re: Name change poll
This has been a big decision for me. I don't want to take his name. I have issues with my fiances mother and I can't stand the thought of people calling Mrs. so & so. It'll make me think of his mother all the time. I haven't thought of my excuse for him yet. If we have kids I'm fine with them having his last name.

Re: Name change poll
I am changing my name to : Jennifer MaidenName FHLastName. (legally)
Professionally and socially I will be Jennifer FHLastname.
Can't wait! But didn't want to completely drop my maiden name.

Re: Name change poll
I changed...
hyphenating is no problem...you do that when applying for the marriage license...
but to get your maidan name to be your middle name...there are other court paper work for that...It is not as simple as going down to town hall...
