name changing

Although I have no problems changing my name after I get married, it is going to pose a problem at work - does anyone know if you can have one name professionally and another legally? Is this complicated? thanks!

I'm changing my last name to take his - but at work, I am keeping it hypenated. That may be an option for you. The reason I am not changing it completely is because, I've been there for 4 years and in different departments, so it is easier for everyone to look me up. I also deal with some outside vendors and it just makes life easier! FH is not totally thrilled, he jokes when I answer the phone, but it all works out!

You can really do what ever you want. What you decide to do socially or in the work place really doesn't matter. However, what ever name you have on your SS card must match your payroll so that the taxes are done correctly.

I took my husbands last name, but kept my maiden name as my middle name. The reason for that is mainly work related. My license and registration (PE) is in my maiden name, so it's a little for name recongnitioin as well!!

For work purposes, I am keeping my last name. For all other matters, I will go by his name.
