can you start changing your name on things once you go to town hall and get marriage license???

i kinda think you can't only bc other past brides have said that you get your marriage certificate after the wedding like a few things and you can change your name then i think

well we already got married in city hall in august and most places need a marriage certificate - so i think you need to wait

thanks i just dont know what to do..cuz im taking my NYS boards in may and then getting married in june.. i really hate to pay the 300 bucks for the liscense then have to pay AGAIN to have the name changed in a matter of weeks

i needed my marriage cert to change my name at SSA and DMV. when we opened our new jt acct, the bank took a copy of my marriage license, but official agencies require the marriage cert.
