Name help

Name help

We are finally coming up with a top ten list for our little guy- I would love your brutally honest opions. James will be the middle name. My DH's last name is one syllable and only 2 letters long.

Caden (concerned it may also be used as a girls name, which I am not into. Also think it may be getting too popular, which I am also not into)
Connor
Eric
Alec

Okay, only four names on the list so far, not ten, but who's counting? Other suggestions?

Re: Name help

I LOVE Caden. It was my #1 choice for a Nicolas' name, but I compromised.

Caden James sounds teriffic!!

I've never seen it used as a girl's name. I did a little reasearch for you and came up with this...
Caden

So even if someone uses it as a girl's name, it IS a boy's name!

Re: Name help

I think Connor is a nice name - easy to say, spell, different but not crazy. And Connor James has a nice ring to it.

Alec reminds me of Alec Baldwin so Im not crazy about that.

Caden does sound like a girl.

Eric is nice but as someone who has spent her whole life with a standard name but an unusual spelling, its very annoying.

I love Caden & I do not think it is girly

but my son's middle name is Eric, so I love that as well.

Re: Name help

I love Caden AND Connor! Is Caden an Irish/Celtic name?

I love many Irish names, but since my DH has such an ethnic sounding Italian last name, a first name of Irish decent would be odd, I always thought.

Re: Name help

I am not into trendy names so Caden is not my favorite. I like Eric James a lot. I also like Steven James, Alexander James and William James (Billy).

Keep trying the names out on the baby and see which name fits.

Like Michelle, I'm not crazy about trendy names and I second her suggestions about Steven and Alexander. There's also Brian, Daniel, Anthony, Joseph, Michael... but those are more traditional. Connor seems very popular right now.

Re: Name help

I like Conner as well. It's one of the boys names that my DH and I can agree on. I'm not a big fan of Caden. I am the type who won't name their child a name if, written on paper, you can't tell if its a boy or girl. Just my 2 cents.

Alec is my favorite of those choices...but I would prefer Alexander or Xander to Alec

I think Connor is the best out of the choices. I really don't like Caden. Reminds me of those bugs (i.e., secadas (sp)).

Re: Name help

LOL am470! Isn't it funny how names evoke such different thoughts in all of us?

At this point I definetely think Caden is out- just too popular right now. I thought we were making the name up. I didn't think Connor was that popular, maybe I am wrong. I just don't want the poor little guy to have 4 other kids in his class with the same name.

I like Alexander too but my DH's BF has a daughter named Alex and I feel weird about using the name too. Maybe we will reconsider. We are trying to find a happy medium between traditional and trendy- like Michael is way too traditional for us while Jack or Tyler are too trendy.

This is so hard! Thanks for the input. I appreciate it all.

Re: Name help

I love Connor! (but I'm a little biased as it's one of my little guys' names). We too were a bit concerned with the popularity issue, but to us it stood out as a nice classic name that goes from child to adult. And I love it paired with James!
