Re: Naming Tables for the reception
Those are very pretty. I like the fact that the numbers are also on them b/c if you are having a big crowd will get confusing using just the names.

Re: Naming Tables for the reception
Thanks! That was my worry earlier today when I decided to even do these table numbers, but I figured you have to at least have a number on there too and I don't think it looks too bad with it! We are only having maybe 140 people but someone mentioned earlier that the waitstaff probably needs it too!

I luv this idea, but on the place cards do you put the table # or the name? Both? Just wondering how most of you did or are doing it.

Re: Naming Tables for the reception
I did not put numbers at all. The Port Jeff CC gave me a seating chart before the wedding, and the table layout of the room was numbered on the paper. I just wrote the table's name next to the club's usual number, so that the wait staff wouldn't be confused when serving guests. But, the important point is - none of my guests saw numbers - just the table name coming out of the centerpieces.

I don't have a great picture of the table name, you can peek through the napkins and see that the sunflower...I didn't number the picture, but on the back of the place card I did put the corresponding table #, b/c I did this last minute and in case there was a problem with the hall.

Re: Naming Tables for the reception
On the place cards themselves I plan on putting the same thing, Table 1 Brown Maple. I don't want to mess up the waiters and this way there is also a sucession of numbers so people don't wander around aimlessly looking for a table. I hope it works!

Re: Naming Tables for the reception
I think I will use the numbers, however I want to include romantic poems/quotes for each table or instead of using numbers, I can use the names of different poets and writers who wrote about love! (that thought just popped into my head).

Re: Naming Tables for the reception
My hall told me I HAVE to put numbers on my table cards for the wait staff, but now I think I might try to do Claud's idea. Give them the layout chart with the names next to numbers.

Re: Naming Tables for the reception
I am using numbers to name my tables, but I wanted to make something pretty and different. I think I got this idea from Martha Stewart. I beaded irredescant (sp?) pearls onto thin wire (coated with white) and they will be standing up in small mason jars filled with white wax (FH's family owns a candle factory). I found a beautiful font on MS Word and blew up the numbers to follow as I shaped the wire. They are gorgeous and as soon as I get pictures from my wedding (10 days!) I will post them.

Re: Naming Tables for the reception
Hi all! I have to share the CUTEST idea I saw at a wedding here in Rochester (where I live). The table number was three initials...example JDS. The JDS stood for Jane Doe Smith, one of the bridesmaids in the wedding party. When we got to the table JDS, there was an 8 1/2 x 11 picture (on a stand) of the bride and her bridesmaid with the initials JDS! Each table was different, for each of the bridesmaids and groomsmen! She had 10 bridesmaids 10 groomsmen + flowergirl and ringbearer...You just have to hope none of the attendants have the same set of initials!!
it was really cute!
