My FH and I want to name our tables, which I see a lot of you are doing/have done. My question is, how can the guests find the tables? With numbers, the tables sometimes go in some sort of numerical order, but with names, what did you do?
Edited post because I spelled 'numerical' as 'numberical'

Re: Naming tables instead of numbering them question
we worried a little bit about that, but in the end decided that our guests will just have to figure it out. We will display the numbers prominently

Re: Naming tables instead of numbering them question
You could try to put the table names in alphabetical order. I don't know how well that will work (or if people would notice) but that's the only way I can think of to organize it. Good luck!

Re: Naming tables instead of numbering them question
I think i'm going to do a number and a name. with 40 tables, it'll be too hard for guests if there arent numbers.
you can make the name bigger and the number smaller so its still the focus?

Re: Naming tables instead of numbering them question
I'm doing a table assignment board.. that way, people will be listed according to table names as opposed to those little cards..
so in other words it would be listed

another thing you could do is.. go ahead and name your tables, and do the table assignment cards, but instead of listing the table # it would be table name.. and list the cards in alphabetical order by name of the guest..

Re: Naming tables instead of numbering them question
But as they walk around the room, how will they find their table? Maybe they will fend for themselves. To be honest, even though I've been to a zillion weddings, I never noticed if I had trouble finding my table, or if the tables were in any order in the room. Maybe guests won't even notice if they can't find their table right away once come into the dining room.

Re: Naming tables instead of numbering them question
well, if you are naming the tables, you need to make up cards with the table names on them and then display one on each of the tables.. that's how they will find them..
I have mine in an 8 x10 frame which is decorated with feathers,.

Do both, that is what I am doing
My signs will have a name and a number. I know, I am playing it safe.
