Naming Vent-- how can it be this hard?

Original post by michele31

Honestly this whole naming the baby is sooo hard. My DH and I cannot seem to agree on boy's names, or atleast one boy's name. We have 3 girl's names that we both really like and will pick the 'one' in the hospital when we see the baby BUT these boy's name are driving me nuts. Everything I really like he hates. His name choses usually involve some member of the Hall of Fame (sports) and are just not what I like. He was very excited about the idea of naming our child Brady- after the Patriot's quarterback. Okay, for one, I hate sports and for two, I think don't like sports. So I tried to comprimise and I said fine, the guy's name is Thomas and that is my Dad's name so it will be fine with me. But no, Scott doesn't want that name. He wants Brady. And I don't like that. Then I liked Kyle and he hates that. This is a never ending pattern of difficulty. How did you all do it? How did you both finally like the same name?

How about James?

James is my brother's name. Scott seems to like 'soap opera' names which just is so out-of-character to me but......

Michele, I was just kidding because that is my hubby's name.
How about Daniel or Vincent?

Daniel is my jerk X and Scott will never do Italian names. Think 'kid who goes to really expensive pre-school in NYC' type boy's name. He really like Landon and I like the sound of it. I tried a trial and it just didn't work. It didn't feel natural at all.
girl's names are NO problem
Emory Tamara is 90%. Brooke and Holly are runner ups.

Hmmm, how about Michael,Kevin, Joseph,Steven,Peter or Kenneth?
It is hard to think of names let alone try to get your hubby to agree with you on one.

I love your girls names!!
Have you thought of Mitchel? I really like it, but DH has already expressed his objection, and we're not even TTC yet!

Good luck! I bet one day you'll come across a name and the both of you will be pleasantly surprised

so funny. I LOVE Joshua. He hates it. we both like Alexander but I don't like it with the middle name, Wagner. Wagner is my grandpa's last name but with no boys the name died when he did so we are making it the a baby boy's middle name.
thanks for all the suggestions girls.

Thats funny. I always liked Alexandra for a girl.
It is very hard to think of names.
I'm sure something will just hit you and you will both love it!

I feel your pain so much on this decision. I don't know if you remember, but I too, had the most difficult time with boys names. It's so difficult to agree.
This is funny tho -> when you say that Scott won't do any italian names....we were so drawn to all the italian names, but we didn't want to pick anything too ethnic for fear that our son would get beaten up on the playground.

What surprises me about Scott's choices so far is that most of them sound more like surnames than first names. I suppose he wants something a little unique (which in theory is great), but there's a fine line between unique and out-of-the-ordinary-funny, you know?

Not that you want opinions, but I *love* the way Alexander Wagner sounds (very masculine) and personally I think it's fine w/your last name. The full name might be a little awkward b/c they both end in 'er', but Alex Wagner is beautiful, JMO.

Awwwwww michele, I don't have advice for you on this one except to just stay calm about it.
Either way..your baby WILL have a name.
You should be trying to enjoy the pregnancy more and worry about the little things ( ok, so maybe a name isn't so little) alot less.
Hows your leg doing?
Are you and Claud still going to the concert on Monday?
