So we were at our tasting at the Milleridge and I was looking at the table setting and decided I don't like the way the napkins look in the glasses. So our banquet manager said I can fold the napkins however I want. (I know I need to do this like I need a hole in the head)
Anyway, Martha (Stewart that is) has some cute napkin folds in her magazine. Anyone else know of any good sites?

I didn't even notice how the napkins were folded to be honest although I would not have liked it if they were tucked into the glasses. A few times I considered doing a menu that got tucked into the napkin but that is the only time I cared.

Gotcha. I never liked napkins in the glasses so I am going to find a design I like and recruit some help and do it. I really must be insane.

Are they saying that YOU have to fold all the napkins or THEY will fold them as you want them. If they want you to do it, I would definitely skip that task - you will not want to fold napkins the morning of your wedding!

No Jen, you are NOT nuts...I was vehement that the napkins at my reception would NOT be stuffed into glasses.
I took care of it by creating a napkin ring out of sanddollars and raffia ribbons, which my florist assembled for me, to compliment my seashell theme. The napkins were placed on each place setting.

Yes Stef if I want anything out of the ordinary I will have to fold them myself. They can give me the napkins about a week or two before. That is why I think I am nuts!

When I worked in catering we folded the napkins in a trangle shape(kind of like a hlaf of a fortune cookie-- and it was relatively easy and didn't take too much time. I can't tell you how to do it because I don't remember but it wasn't that hard....keep in mind that the napkins stay folded for a very brief time when people come in.

Jen: I am the queen of doing things that no one cares about but I would strongly advice against doing this task. Can your site fold the napkins simply on the plate instead of the glasses? There must be a better solution than folding 100+ napkins yourself.
I can assure you that you will NOT want to be bothered with this in your final weeks.

ASK your florist to help you with the folding - maybe they can even create some type of napkin ring to match your centerpieces (similar to what I did).

I don't think you're nuts - napkins in the glass aren't my style either. I think a nice simple folded napkin on the place setting is good.
BTW - This is the reason I love this site!! At no other time in our lives are we going to be worried about how napkins are folded. I love being a bride-to-be!!!!

I have to agree with Sonicstef here as a former bride. You will have enough else to worry about that this is probably just going to turn into a big stress causer for you. I would push the Milleridge Inn to put the napkins elsewhere. Or maybe if you have a friend/aunt/cousin who has been asking how they can get involve to turn over 100% responsibility to them on this. I do think that doing this yourself is a bit crazy!!!

I also agree with SonicStef. I don't like the napkins in the glasses either but I would definetly have them put the napkins nicely on the place setting or something. The closer you get to your wedding the more busier you get. The last week you need to relax and not stress yourself out on little things like that. Have the hall do their best with the napkins.
