Nassau County or Howard Beach Churches

Can anyone tell me of a beautiful church in Nassau County or Howard Beach? I'm thinking of getting married at Russo's and maybe would like a church nearby there.... I like high cathedral ceilings...etc!!

St. Agnes is a very nice cathedral with high ceilings and since it is the Diocesan church maybe they will perform your ceremony. But I don't know for sure.

I can't think of any other Churches with high ceilings (except mine, but I am sure you cannot get married there if you are not a parishioner, our priest mentioned it). I don't think all churches are like that but please do not be surprised if many say no. They feel it's not fair that their own parishioners may be blocked out of a wedding date for someone that is not a parishioner.

Good luck

I got married at Our Lady of Grace in Howard Beach, its on159th Ave. Its not a cathedral in anyway, but the ceilings are fairly high.

I live in Howard Beach, but my church is in OZone PArk. It is St.Mary Gate of Heaven on 101st avenue and 103 street. IT has very high cathedral ceilings and is gorgeous!

I'm a member of St. Helen's parish. It definately doesn't have cathedral ceilings. It's a pretty church though. My sister kept saying to get married in another church because our church is small and quaint. But I always wanted to get married there when I was a child. :)

Our Lady of Grace church is beautiful. As StayandJohn said, the ceilings are pretty high.

Also, I think St. Raymond's in East Rockaway has high ceilings.

I grew up in St. Mary Gate of Heaven Parish - and that's where I am getting married. I may be biased but I think it is the most beautiful church in the area. It turns 100 years old this year. You should check it out!
Good luck

Also, check out Blessed Virgin Mary- Nativity parish. It's in Ozone Park... not far at all from Russo's. It's a beautiful church. Gate of Heaven is a really nice church as well but it is on a busy Avenue with lots of sotres. I point this out because my friend got married at that church and I remeber going through her photos and in the backround, you saw a laundromat!! It looked a little weird.

Good luck!

I also got married at our Lady of Grace in HB - not a gorgeous church in my opinion - I don't like the floating Jesus behind the alter and it didn't have stairs in front - but for me it wasn't about that - this is where my mom and other family members attend mass every Sunday and it was more personal. The priest that married us was great! So many people told me my church was gorgeous.

I also grew up in Ozone Park (St. Stan's parish - stay away from them - lol!) but think Our Lady of Grace and Nativity are both pretty churches and so close to Russo's.

There is also Our Lady of Perpetual Help in South Ozone park. That is also a big beautiful church. I haven't been there in years, my father and all his siblings went to school there. It has been around a while. I moved closer to the island so, I am getting married closer to me.

I agree with checking out Nativity. It's in Ozone Park on Rockaway Blvd. It's about 5 maybe 10 minutes from Russo's. It's a very pretty church

I am getting married in Nativity. If you have any questions regarding the parish, who to speak to, etc...please feel free to ask

I also got marreid at St. mary Gate of Heaven in Ozone Park. It is my parish so I may be biased, but I think it is the most beautiful church in the area. All of my guests commented on the beauty of the church. Also the deacon's and priest's in the parish are very nice to work with.
