what do you guys have? We need a new one...but since we don't plan on being in our place more than 3 years...I don't want to go crazy - since I won't be able to enjoy it...
but I don't really want formica either?
we've looked at granite, slate/stone (whatever it is), corian...I also thought about tiles...but we lived in an apartment with small tiles as countertop and I hated it (but sits cheap and I could do large tiles)...poured cement? anyone do this?

Re: natural kitchen countertops
I've seen poured cement and I actually love the look of it, but from what I understand, it's even more expensive than granite or corian.

Re: natural kitchen countertops
Sometimes you can get lucky at your local home improvement store with a precut counter top. I saw a beautiful silstone top at HD recently at a great price. The sales person said it was a special order that was cut short. If you are open to different materials and color this could be a good way to go.

Re: natural kitchen countertops
I LOVE the look of concrete countertops.
I've heard they are comparable to expensive granites. The concrete components are not pricey; it's a labor intensive project-and that's what you'll pay for. I don't think there are many contractors who do concrete counters-that may be another problem.
