I just flew this weekend. Be sure to pack the following in your checked baggage: all liquids, gels, creams, shampoos, eye drops, etc. and mascara (which was added to the list on Saturday), and I would also check lipsticks and lip balms. The above article says those are fine but the person in front of me in the security line at O'Hare on Sunday got her chapstick taken away from her. If you do all this, you'll be fine. I put all my liquids and banned items in ziploc bags on top in my checked bags and I got the bags back in one piece (we had heard on the radio that they were literally taking bags apart so I did this as a precaution so that my bags wouldn't get destroyed). DH and I each carried one bag on (with clothes, books, an ipod, blackberry, etc.) and had no problems. I thought the airport would be a zoo - we flew out the night before all this went down - and it was fine. Pack smart and you won't have any problems.
My neighbors friend went on a trip and she was traveling with an infant, so she was like theses are my baby's bottles, they wouldn't let her take them on the plane unless she took a sip of each bottle of formula!!!
