Need '10er Wisdom

Need '10er Wisdom

So FH and I have decided we would like an Adult Only reception....with the exception of immediate family.

FH's cousin is getting married in a couple of weeks and was supposed to be adult only and i know that she's given in to a few people....which i dont want to do.

How have you girls dealt with that if you are having an AO reception??

TIA girls!!

i'm having adult only and nobody's asked about children as of yet. We've kind of been spreading the word since we got engaged that there will be no children so i don't know if that helped it at all.

good luck!

Honestly - kids are more than welcome at our ceremony, but they gotta go after that- FG is leaving too - her mom is my MOH and was thankful for a night without the kids. There are some that have complained (and I'm doubtful that they are done complaining), but if that's what you and FH want, stick to your guns. People are just going to have to understand.

I know not everyone will agree, but that's OK. JMO.

have the word spread right off the bat that its adult only...

I have a ton of cousins and so does Shaun... we told everyone immediately that if you werent turning 13 in the year 2010 you werent invited....

I put Adult Only on the reception card info and anyone who has asked I have flat out told them no. They have more than enough time to find a babysitter. Kids can come to the church but then they have to go home.

my parents were a big help - they brought up things like me and my sister didn't get to go to my uncles wedding when i was 12, not even the shower, but his FW's family was allowed to bring kids and that pissed them off, and also, kids run around on the floor, and they could bump into someone with a drink in hand, AND, they will not eat every single thing on there plate.

chicken and fries for $50 a head? yea, go down the block to McD's, and then I'll pay.

Sounds so mean, I know, but I mean really, wedding receptions should be adults only. If RH's weren't so expensive to begin with, then my opinion would change.

I would only do kids who are in the bridal party.

I just caved on that today
I really want one of my close friends to attend and basically told her if she cannot find a sitter to talk to me.
But for the rest I'm telling the same. We cannot afford to include everyone's children.

ETA: You can spread this via word-of-mouth and your MOH or Wedding website.

we had an adult only reception...with the exception of of FG's and RB who are our immediate family.. nieces and nephew. we simple said there are just somany children in the family, it would be50 more people, so we are leaving it at those children that are immediate family.
Our reception card said 'Adult Reception'

I actually told everyone they should bring the kids to the church tho!

i'd so start spreading the word noe. yeah people will be like wow..can you believe that Kedra? but who cares? they'll be prepared.

we have that issue w FH's family in phoenix. i have no idea what they'll do bc they cant leave their kids in phoenix so maybe we'll have a babysitter on premises or something.

I'd make it known as early as possible and put Adult Reception on the invitation.

I'm just so worried about it because FH has a big family...with a lot of kids....i just dont want to be the bad guy but its probably inevitable right?

i had a AO wedding except for my 3 month old niece, 18 month old FG and 10 yo Jr BM. it came down to 'bride rules'.

I know some of FH's cousins who have toddlers (the cant stay still kind of toddlers) wanted to bring their kids and one asked me on FB and i told her no kids. i saw her face at the reception when she saw the other kids there. she was very piszed off but whatever! that was my rule!!
also FH's aunts didnt come cuz they had to 'watch the kids' BS his cousins could've asked a friend or an in law to watch the kid. i personally think it was partly because they were in protest of the AO wedding. in they end they screwwed themselves cuz they missed a great nite.

I did the same. And they all came to the church, but not the reception.

The best advice is state no children, dont invite children and stick to it. not one exception and that way no one has a reason to be upset.

The only children invited immediate family. No one has asked us if they can bring their children. ::Knock on wood::

On our invite envelopes we are putting:

Mr & Mrs John Smith

On our response cards we put:

Mr & Mrs John Smith

_2_ seats are reserved in your honor
___accepts with pleasure
____regretfully declines

I hope that will be clear!!!!
