my cat was already fixed when i adopted her, but we use The Cat Hospital in Wiliston Park on Hillside Ave, and LOVE them. They only take care of cats, and our kitty was declawed and had her teeth cleaned there. Everyone loves cats there, and I was actually comfortable leaving her there overnight because everyone was so kind and accomodating.
Their # is 516-746-2287. They will give you the prices over the phone and all other info you need to know. no matter where we move to, they will always be my Kasha's vet.

I found a website friendsofanimals.org. They are affiliated with vets (enter your address they'll e-mail you a list) that do low cost spaying/neutering

baldwin harbor animal hospital is where DH always took his cat - I took my kitty there to get spayed they were SO nice. I didn't like the vet near me; they were a rip off.

when i had a cat we got some kind of voucher mailed to us and the vet did it for free....i will try and find the website
