Need a brutally honest opinion please

What do we think of this as a MOB/MOG dress?

In the champagne color shown....

ETA, these are the same dress, just in a diferent color and one has the bolero... she's getting the bolero for church.

If I remember your FMIL - she has a nice figure! Put it this way - you're lucky she went to get a dress at all by herself....My FMIL - keeps pushing back saying she wants to loose weight, she doesn't have time, she doesn't like her legs in a dress etc etc - it will be 9/17/11 and she will go to dress barn and buy something for 14.99 off the rack....!

Their website only says navy, red, white, and sterling. Sterling is not champagne. I'd have her change the color. My mom would NEVER.

I dunno Jill, she told me when she went today that it came in like 4 other colors that aren't on the website and she says this was definitely champagne when she tried it on... IDK. ::sigh::

My mother would never either.

OH and btw, This dress cost her $20 less than mine cost..

LOL, yeah, she does actually, I'm not worried about that part! I can let go of the fact that it's being marketed as a prom dres... it's the color I'm concerned about!

i mean, in reality, there is no confusing her with the bride. you WILL be the center of attention regardless of whatever color she wears. you will be the one in WHITE (as long as it's not a white shading on ivory or champagne!)

i'd probably still have FH mention to her.

to be honest, if my mother or mother in law wanted to wear champagne, i would be upset. that is too close to ivory or white JMO.

HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I told my FMIL what colors were okay and what weren't!! That is ridic - there are millions of colors and dresses to choose.

ETA: as far as being confused for the bride... truly, it will never happen... my mom wore the same color to my wedding... jmo, but i dont even see how thats possible... regardless of the body your mom has the or the color she wears no one is going to mistake the mother of the bride for the bride...

The dress is Really Pretty however if you want me to be honest here it goes.. I dont know if that color looks light on my screen or if it is that light in person? I feel like its close to ivory... Is your dress white? I LOVE that purple tho

Too close in color to white/ivory in my opinion. I'd be more apt to let it slide for MOB over MOG but either way I wouldn't be happy. It's YOUR day...I'd keep everyone away from anything even close to your dress color. I feel like just the thought of a FMIL wanting to where a color like that is a hidden agenda...again just MY opinion.

if it was my mom i think it would be ok but i think champagne is too light of the mog. beautiful dress, why doesnt she get it in a different color.

My mom tried this exact dress on and it was stunning. It was very champagne.. not even close to ivory. This didnt even cross my mind to be honest.

This is my biggest pet peeve...I know some people wouldn't mind, but it would absolutely 100% bother me.

Trust me, I could tell you- that color will come out lighter in pictures. True, you won't be next to her the entire night, nor will she be in every picture, BUT, she will be present the whole time. I couldn't deal with it at all. I'm sorry, but, only you should be wearing white that day...THAT'S IT!!! I don't like the idea of anyone wearing dresses whose color is so close to the brides dress.
