I need to find a church that will do a wedding in March. I finally called the church and they told me I would have to wait 6 months. I want to be able to have my future children christened etc that is why I want to get married in a church

cant help you. i know it's very very difficult to find a church who will marry you in a shorter time than six months.

Re: Need a Catholic church..........QUICK!
I live in Floral Park and we are thinking of having the recption at the Riveria. So anywhere in between is ok.
If I don't have to have it in a church what do I need to do then. I am dumb when it comes to this stuff and don't really have much help in this area...
thanks.

I agree with one of the above posters. I'm not sure of a catholic church that will marry you that fast. They want you to take Pre-Cana and it's usually only offered a few times a year. It's a catholic church requirement. Did you book your hall before calling the church?
My only suggestion would be to have it at the place your having your reception. Some of the other girls on here have got priests to officiate their wedding.
Hope it works out for you!

Re: Need a Catholic church..........QUICK!
I just talked with Marge who works in the rectory of the church I am getting married at, Maria Regina in Massapequa. She said that there is no time frame in which you need to reserve the church. However, since you are not a parish member you will have to speak with the priest first and of course make sure there is nothing else scheduled.
If you want to give her a call, her number is 516-798-2415.

My church is in Massapequa, Our Lady of Lourdes, they didn't seem to have a lot of weddings scheduled, but I don't know what their policy is on the 6 month thing. Th's the general Catholic rule, but soem places will go around it. They have a February Pre-cana which you may be able to go to even if you get married elsewhere.

Most won't marry you unless it's 6 months in advance.
But I don't see why you cannot christen your children if you are not married in a Church. One has nothing to do with the other. My cousin got married at her reception hall to a Jewish man but they are raising their children Catholic and she was able to christen them in a Church.
As a matter of fact you can still Christen a baby in a church even if you are not married at all.
Your best bet is to call the Diocese of Rockville Center and talk to someone in the Family Minsitry dept and ask them if they can help, but I'm sure you can still get children christened in a Church no matter where you marry.
