Need a Good DJ (no lights and smoke!)

We are looking for a DJ who is basically one person, no frills, who plays the list we give him. I've been told to check out Tommy Tunes and Body Rock. I am hoping to keep the cost down ($1000-$1500)...can anyone give me feedback about these two DJ's or any others they like? Thanks so much!!!

That price range is our budget too and we booked Party Time Music - the DJs name is Joe Alanga and he did our friends wedding - we loved him. Im not a dancer either and he had me dancing all night!! His # is 516-542-0559

I have been to a lot of weddings that used Body Rock and they were all fun. I am using Starlight Express who I never saw in person but fell in love when I went to meet with them.

You should also check out Starlight Express . The only thing is that they sort of require you to have a DJ & MC. But for ceremony, CH, and reception (no lights, giveaways, etc) it's $1795.

You should try Music by Michael and Big Hits. Michael did my FBIL's wedding and I've never seen Big Hits live but I loved them when I met with them.

I was going to suggest both of these!

As far as checking out Tommys Tunes, IMO they're not really what you're looking for. I checked them out as well and I wanted the same thing as you... just not what I had in mind.

Check out Ralph from High Energy, I wanted the same thing as you and had a similar budget and ralph was below my budget.

I'd also recommend checking out Starry Night. There's just a DJ - no MC. No lights, props, etc. They only play what you want them to play and only make the announcements you ask for.

Another to check out is Spin Around Sound. They're great on price, and will totally work with you if what you need is in between two of the packages they offer (that's what they did for us). Not cheesy at all, and he really listens to what you want, like how much mc-ing, etc. He did my best friend's wedding and we were very impressed.

We're using In the Mood and it falls in that price range. Mike is really great to work and I've heard great reviews.
