Need a great book!!!!

Need a great book!!!!

Some of you may have seen my post about my loooong flights on my HM. I will be traveling 12 hours each way so I need a few really good books, something I will not want to put down. I have Eat Pray Love and I have been saving it, but I am not sure it will be compelling enough to keep my interest ... sounds like a good book but something to read in my spare time, not a page turner, you know? Not sure, maybe someone can tell me otherwise. But either way, I need a few good books -- anyone have any recommendations???? I have a $30 giftcard to barnes and noble and I want to go spend it!

I can't believe your time is almost here!!!! Yaay!!!

OK here are some books that I loved
The Twilight Series (Stephanie Meyers) I read the first two books during HM and I could not put them down

Something Borrowed and Something Blue by Emily Giffin. SO good. A good chick lit read.

The Time Traveler's Wife: OMG, amazing. A little confusing to read at first but so good. They are coming out with a movie version of it starring Rachel McAdams (from The Notebook) and Eric Bana. Brad Pitt is producing the movie! He bought the rights to the book before the book even came out!!

Hey Jen...

Here's on my 'to read' list...

The Other Boleyn Girl (I'm actually currently reading it... it's a lot to swollow but so far so good).
The Secret Life of Bees
In The Woods (a woman who was sitting next to me on the plane - she was terrified and I had to hold her hand during take-off and landing - was reading it and she said it was good enough to keep her mind elsewhere while flying).

Books that are amazing are...

Little Alters*
The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (better than the movie)*

*These two books are part of the series. Read in the order listed.

Anything by Jane Green esp.

Jemina J
Second Chances
The Other Woman (about a newly married couple and the husband's annoying and meddling mother!)

Valley of the Dolls (surpringly very good!).

Ummmm, I'M SO IN!!!! I'm such a nerd for stuff like that!!!!

The Other Woman is funny but you get so frustrated for the wife... it's good.

Also, if you're into murder mysteries, Kate White writes some good ones that have the same character solving the crimes in each book.

Jenn this is a great thread thanks for starting it! I am also reading the Twilight series, I'm on breaking dawn, the last one. I was thinking of bringing some other books though since i'll finish this one pretty soon. Thanks for all the suggestions I'm so going to use them!!! I had wanted to read the other boelyn girl, the movie looked good, but the books tend to be better than the movies. I'm going to get some books today I think!!!

Oh and on a side note, today next week we will be married Jenn!!!

Any of the books by Emily Giffin. Her books are 110% addicting.... try 'something borrowed' first.

All of her books so far have been GREAT!!!

Great thread Jen! I want to join your club too.

I haven't read anything lately but I did pick up the Kite Runner and the first of the Twilight series to take with me on the Honeymoon.

I will let you know if I think of any others.

I have the kite runner actually - my FMIL gave it to me, her old office had a lending library -- guess they aren't missing it it looks long and I think it also takes place in the 50s or something right? whatever it is, it isn't present day and i have a hard time connecting with those kinds of books ... but please tell me if it's really good, then i will try.

i think i am going to pick up an emily giffin book and also the first in the twilight series for the HM.

i love jane hamilton and patricia gaffney if anyone needs more suggestions - their books are excellent.

If you like James Patterson you should try David Baldacci, although I must warn you they are page-turners....

The Kite Runner
A Thousand Splendid Suns.

They are by the same author and you wont be able to put them down until you are finished reading.

I haven't even read them yet, but I've heard such good things about the Twilight series.... I'm awaiting the delivery of books 1 and 2 in my class's book order!

I also love anything by Jodi Picoult, especially 'My Sister's Keeper.'

Anything by Melissa Senate -- she's from Forest Hills, NY and writes 'chick lit.' 'See Jane Date' was a lifetime movie (her book was better!!) and 'Whose Wedding Is It Anyway' continues Jane's story.

You know, I used to love James Patterson, but I got tired of the pattern in his books. I read so many of them, they became predictable. I don't like predictable in an author. I used to read Mary Higgins Clark and I stopped years ago because the smart, woman heroine always solved the crime in the end - and I guess that is just her way, but it bugged me.

I read My Sister's Keeper, and while I loved it and weeped like a baby when I finished, I found that Piccolt is a little wordy for me. I am picky I know

angry housewives eating bon bons by lorna vandik (sp?)

my sisters keeper or 19 minutes by jodi piccoult

DH just read the last lecture and he was so into it, it sounded really interesting. I don't remember the author's name but it'll come up if you google it. There were 2 other people reading that same book on the plane

eta: the divorced debutante or/and bergdorf blondes by plum sykes (again sp?). Very easy reads and pretty entertaining
