Some of you may have seen my post about my loooong flights on my HM. I will be traveling 12 hours each way so I need a few really good books, something I will not want to put down. I have Eat Pray Love and I have been saving it, but I am not sure it will be compelling enough to keep my interest ... sounds like a good book but something to read in my spare time, not a page turner, you know? Not sure, maybe someone can tell me otherwise. But either way, I need a few good books -- anyone have any recommendations???? I have a $30 giftcard to barnes and noble and I want to go spend it!

angry housewives eating bon bons by lorna vandik (sp?)
my sisters keeper or 19 minutes by jodi piccoult
DH just read the last lecture and he was so into it, it sounded really interesting. I don't remember the author's name but it'll come up if you google it. There were 2 other people reading that same book on the plane
eta: the divorced debutante or/and bergdorf blondes by plum sykes (again sp?). Very easy reads and pretty entertaining
Ohhhh FH is always saying I don't go to work, I just sit around and eat bon bons, that is hysterical
you should read it. It was such an amazing book, you really get to feel like you know the characters. I love books like that!

Re: Need a great book!!!!
I just thought of this... are there any classics that you've always wanted to read and just put off reading? Some are big thick books and take a long time to finish, so they may be good for a long flight. They may take a lot of concentration though.
Or if you want some guilty-pleasure reading, are there any hobbies you enjoy? You can pick up some magazines that cater specifically to that hobby. My rainy-day cup-of-tea magazines are usually Victoria, Romantic Homes, things like that. Although a stack of magazines could get heavy to carry on the plane.
This will sound totally insane, so bear with me...... but I teach 3rd grade, so I read a TON of children's books. There's a great series by Dan Gutman about 3rd graders that totally entertained ME while I was reading them aloud to my class. Some of the puns went totally over the kids' heads, but had me cracking up. I had to explain them to my kids. But I don't think you'd want to be sitting on a plane heading for your honeymoon reading a kids' book!

I really liked the Twilight series.. I didn't think I could possible get into them but I was hooked!
I also really liked the 'grave' series by Charlaine Harris (she wrote the books based on the True Blood series).. 'Grave Sight' was the first one and I liked it a lot... Most people think the Sookie Stackhouse series is way better but I personally prefer the grave series!

Great thread Jen! I want to join your club too.
I haven't read anything lately but I did pick up the Kite Runner and the first of the Twilight series to take with me on the Honeymoon.
I will let you know if I think of any others.
I have the kite runner actually - my FMIL gave it to me, her old office had a lending library -- guess they aren't missing it it looks long and I think it also takes place in the 50s or something right? whatever it is, it isn't present day and i have a hard time connecting with those kinds of books ... but please tell me if it's really good, then i will try.
i think i am going to pick up an emily giffin book and also the first in the twilight series for the HM.
i love jane hamilton and patricia gaffney if anyone needs more suggestions - their books are excellent.
I will let you know how it is. If you want guilty pleasure easy reading I have the entire shopaholic series -- you are more then welcome to borrow it. They are cute and entertaining. Someone mentioned Bergdorf Blondes that was really cute too -- you can borrow that one as well.
