Re: Need a nice Gown shop that doesn't rip tags out
Hey hon--try Adrienne's in Islip. They do not. I had a good experience there with my wedding gown, just not the BM gowns. Nonetheless, it's a nice, quaint place to try on gowns of all styles. Tags not ripped out to my recollection.

RK Bridal does not. They're in the city, in the garment district area.

Lilletes refuses to tell you the names of the designers or dresses - but they don't rip all the tags out so you can read it for yourself.

Commack Wedding center happily tells you where the dress comes from, and they can get you a good discount. I have heard both good and bad stories about their alterations though.

thats not true. my sister got her Mori Lee dress from Lilette's in baldwin. the tag may not have been in the gown, but they told her the designer

I was there a couple of weeks ago, and I don't remember if the tags were in the dress, but I do remember they were really good about telling me who the designer was of each dress.

When i went they refused to tell me the designer of any dress except the maggie sottero's - but they wouldn't tell me what the name of the sottero's i tried on where ex: ashleigh or the sizes i was wearing - and they said point blank they don't want me to go look online and price shop. Maybe it depends on the sales associate or the dress you are trying on. Or maybe they were suspicious b/c i ask alot of questions (i'm inquisitive by nature). I dont know. But I know everybody has had different experiences at different salons.
ETA: I just wanted to clarify - I liked lilletes I'm not saying it's a bad store or anything - if you look at my previous posts i strongly encourage brides to go look there, they have a gorgeous assortment and let you try on as many as your heart desires. I also know people who have ordered from them and had nothing less than a fabulous experience! I think you should definetly go to Lilletes - the purpose of my post was to merely say that they may not answer all of your questions and perhaps certain dresses/designers they will not tell you. But as long as you know that going in and are prepared then you won't be dissapointed!

The rip out the tags, but I was able to get them to tell me who the designer was, even though she kept saying 'I'm not supposed to tell you.' (and I did order my dress from them) I don't really understand this practice. Do they want to avoid you getting the dress elsewhere?

I have never heard of this - what is the point of ripping out the tag? Isn't it illegal to sell a brand dress without giving the designer credit?
