Here's how my mom used to make string beans-She used frozen. Cook string beans according to directions. Drain well.
In a frying pan, heat a little butter or olive oil. Add a couple of smashed cloves of garlic. Cook for a few minutes-don't brown the garlic or it will be bitter!
Add the string beans, a handful of breadcrumbs and a handful of grated Locatelli cheese and stir. If mixture is dry, add a little butter.
This is basically how mom got us to eat most of our vegetables-add garlic/butter/breadcrumbs/cheese.

Re: Need a string bean recipe for Turkey Day
What about a string bean casserole?
Buy two 16 oz. bags of french cut frozen string beans....thaw and drain. In a large bowl, toss the beans with a can of Campbell's cream of mushroom soup, a cup of milk, and 1/2 can of Durkee french fried onions.
Spread mixture evenly in a casserole dish. Top with remaining 1/2 can of onions and bake at 350 for 35 minutes.

Re: Need a string bean recipe for Turkey Day
Did you try Kraft interactive kitchen, they have a website, just do a search. My sister got a good receipe from there last year for green bean cassarole, it was similar to the one with cream of mushroom soup, but there was cheese whiz in it. Fh hates cheese, except mozzarella, and he could not stop eating it last year. It is also a good site for reciepes in general.
