Need a suggestion for my program .... HELP!!

We're not going to be doing a petal toss or bubbles after the ceremony on Sat. for 2 reasons:

(1) the church does not want petals thrown
(2) it will be cold & probably dark as it is the shortest day of the year!

How should I word this in the program so that people do not wait outside the church for us. We will probably just take pic's inside?!

HELP!

It may be short too late but what about sparklers...if you can get your hands on some it could look really pretty, would your church be opposed to that?

Sorry, I can't think of a good way to word it.

The sparkers are a great idea, but if you can't get them, I would not make any mention of it in the program.. People will figure it out when they don't get anything to toss

I vote for Sparklers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you don't want that or anything else, perhaps you can say, when you say your Thank You at the bottom, something like

'We look forward to celebrating with you at the Reception' (to give them a hint)

While we'd love to stay and celebrate
Our photographer tells us we'll be late!
So no tossing of rice or petals for now
We'll see you at the reception...someone FINISH THIS RHYME FOR ME!

You could ask your officiant to announce that you will be going directly to the reception or what ever fits your situation.

Liz, I'm definitely going with yours .... at this point, I don't know where I would even start today finding the sparklers ... how much I love that idea!!! Also we have no more $$$ right now!

Love the poem!! I think it is a great idea...also maybe you can have your officiant say something. We asked our officiant to say 'In lieu of a receiving line, the bride and groom will greet you at the cocktail hour...and now, for the first time, Mr. & Mrs. ..........'

p.s. - I'm AGAINST sparklers....they can be EXTREMELY dangerous no matter how careful you are, and I would hate to see someone get hurt on your very special day!! If interested do a search on it - I explained a while back something that almost happened to a friend of mine way back when...IMO they are not worth it for a few seconds of beauty...
