Need Advice

Hi girls, first time doing this, need some advice.

FH and I have visited some halls in the past 2 weeks, we are interested in next year May or June and some halls I liked, and then I get a headache one hall told me they have a date available for September 2008! Now I know it sounds crazy but my FH is really pushing for it and I keep on telling him it won’t be possible, do you guys think I can pull it of with 3 months to go? I am not a picky bride to be, I am thinking of something simple and elegant. And just to throw it out there it would end up costing us almost 1/2 compared to next year. Need advice.

Call around to the limo companies, dj--etc, where you are planning to get the gowns and make sure it is possible. Get a price for now and then. I worry most about the dresses. You will need to kick it in high gear for the BMs dress. You will need to go and order it this weekend and set a date for the alterations at the same time, You can get your dress at a $99 sale, unless you are very picky/specific. I think you have time for the flowers and tuxes. It will be stressful but possible. Make sure the FH plans on committing to helping.

I think you could do it. Start making calls now. Davids Bridal got all of our dresses in within three weeks of ordering. I didn't get my dress from there so not sure if they can rush Bridal gowns. I would just make a bunch of calls!

do it-- it will be less time to stress.. lol
seriously make a list of what is important for example a certain dress or photog and make calls.. if your not picky then I would say def go for it!!!!

Re: Need Advice

The dress is actually my biggest concern, at the moment I think I am not picky, but I didn’t even get a chance to look at any because there was not need for it yet. But not I am a little worried. And on top of that last weekend I just cut my hair, not much but it definitely won’t grow back to the length I wished them to be.
We are still not sure about this yet, but we would have to make the decision this weekend, and we still have not gone to see if the church we like to get married in is available. HEADACHE, it hurts so much

Re: Need Advice

I would start making TONS of phone calls. You are outside the window to get a lot of gowns - BUT you might be able to get something at a sample sale. Or, as other girls said, you might be able to go off the rack at David's Bridal. But also, you want to make sure that you can find a photog, DJ/band, limos, hair, church, etc. that are open for the same date.

As for the hair - don't worry about that, most hair dressers can give you extensions.

GOOD LUCK! I hope it works out.

The funny this is, we went to see our photographer today and as a joke I just asked for that date in 09/08 and he had the date also available and of course my fiancé is its a 'sign', scary I know, but I just don’t want the finish project to look like it has been rushed, because there is no need for it except really for the $$$$.

I think ou can totally do it and have it be wonderful.

One other thing, though - keep in mind your family and friends. Do you think this will be enough notice for everyone you want to attend to be there? If so, then I think the only thing stopping you is just confirming you can get the other things you want in a short amount of time!

Re: Need Advice

Well my only concern is that my sister in law wont be able to attend because she is pregnant and I already have a very small bridal party and I feel like I will be missing out on the fun if not everyone is there. But I still have to make some calls tomorrow and see if I can get a band and the church.

I think it is possible to do, if it is what you want you better get on the phone as in for the rest of the week.

Buy lots of Advil for the headache it will get worse if you are pulling this off in 3 months.

Oh wait.. 3 months.. make the doctor one of those calls and get vallium.

Seriously GOOD LUCK you could not pay me enough to attempt it but I HAVE seen it done.

Hehe, good advice, I have to start calling early tomorrow, but if this doesn’t go through I will be doing in June '09.

Yes. Really if you want you can do it. My friend planned a wedding for 250 guests and tons and tons of DIY projects. It was by far the best wedding I have been to! She did more then I am doing and I have been 'planning' mine for 2 years. Good luck!

If you want to do it- get all your calls done asap and see if who you want to work with is available and go for it- the dress you can rush(will cost extra) but it can be done!!! Good luck with your choice!!

Re: Need Advice

You can DEFINITELY do this in 3 months!

My brother and his wife pulled it together in 4 and their wedding was AMAZING!

Let us know what you need and we'll do what we can to help!

Dress: Don't hesitate to buy off the rack - lots of girls do - including me!

Re: Need Advice

I say if you got a good deal than do it, you can get it done. You can buy sample dresses or off the rack, jcrew for bms or ann taylor so that you don't have to do the whole 6 months before ordering. You can def. pull it off and the price is 1/2!

I think you could do it, but it would be a ton of work! Good luck either way!

My cousin planned hers in three months and it was great. If you want it, do it.. the rest will be work and you might not get all the vendors you originally wanted, but everything will fall into place. Good Luck!

Re: Need Advice

Just a note, you do NOT need to 'buy off the rack' at David's. You can, and there is no need to worry about doing so, but I bought my Oleg Cassini there and had it delivered to the store in ONE WEEK. They told me 5 months, it was in in a week. So definitely go to David's. You shouldn't need to rush anything. Good luck!
