Hey ladies I need advice on what to respond to my friend: I got an email from her that my registry was left off of my wedding invitation and which one am I registered at? I don't want to come off sounding offensive or rude, cuz I think she just doesn't know, but what should I say to let her know that in New York you usually give money for weddings, and the presents are for the showers? Should I just give her the registry info and be quiet?
All advice is appreciated!

I don't know how u would tell her that. I would just give her the registry info n leave it at that. Its up to the guests to give whatever gift they want to u anyways...

Re: Need advice
Just tell her where you are registered. We have received some registry gifts for the wedding already and honestly a lot of it was stuff we really needed (our knives, our calphalon pots).
People are going to bring gifts whether you like it or not...it might as well be something you actually want.

Re: Need advice
I think you could nicely say that in NY we dont typically put the registry info on wedding invites because people usually give money. But I would also give the info. I dont think it's wrong to let her know that it wasnt a mistake...it's just normal here

Re: Need advice
I have a lot of OOTers buying me registry gifts and that's fine because that's what they know. NY is different but you can't really tell them that.

Re: Need advice
IMHO I would think it best to give her the registry info and don't mention the money gift. Just because it is practice in NY it doesn't mean that she has to follow that.
You don't have to be the one to make her aware of it... if she presses it then mention that it isn't customary maybe because you registered for your shower

Re: Need advice
Give her your registry info. We have a lot of OOT guests coming and I'm guessing they are going to give gifts since when I first told FH about cash as a wedding gift he had no clue what I was talking about... At least this way I know people will get me things I wanted. And I'm sure it'll work out in my favor if things like our bedding and formal china doesn't get fulfilled.

Give her you registry info. i have had a few people ask me already where I am registered at that will be coming to the wedding. I am thinking with the economy the way it is people cant afford to give hundreds of dollars for wedding gifts right now and they are giving gifts off the registry instead.

I would tell her where you are registered. If she's a close friend you can even try to through in what you have been stalking your registry for. My friend sent me a gift and at first I thought 'DAMN! We really need the money!' BUT it was BBB so we figured we would return it. Then we figured out with the money we're getting we would have bought it anyway so no loss on it. GL!
