Hey Girls- Ive been looking at different cameras...FH and I are going to South Africa on our honeymoon in November and we need a good camera. I have the canon power shot but was looking for somehting with a better zoom...looking to strep it up.
After looking at dancinmyazoffs amazing pics I figured I would ask you girls if you had any ideas for me...someone recomended the rebel?

I used the Rebel XSi on my honeymoon. LOVED it. You'll need to buy an extra lens for extra zoom though. I had one from a previous model, but I loved having the zoom lens with me.

DH and i bought this before our honeymoon. it's one of the only compact cameras out there with 10x optical zoom! a friend of mine had it and the photos are so awesome that we ran out to get it. it's more $ than most compact cameras but totally worth the money. we also have a camera in the canon sd series which is amazing but it's bigger so we tend to not carry it around with us as much.
cannon powershot sd digital elph ive had a bunch of different cameras and this one is the best ive had yet
make sure you pay attention to the pixels that makes a big difference mine is 8.0

jenlen-thanks for the info. I got the same recommendation from someone else for the rebel...im looking into that now. I'm just teaching myself a little about photography so im hoping itll turn out ok. your pictures are awesome!

we just bought Nikon D40 digital SLR. We love it. They have higher lines than we got but we are definitely not professionals and can barely handle what we have. Thank god for the auto feature. Its not a standard point and shoot. We bought it at Ritz Camera and they had a good package. It came with a bag and extra lens. I saw deals at best buy as well. Definitely look around there are some great deals out there. Good luck HTH

if you are going SLR - go Nikon, Olympus or Canon and that's it. They exclusively work with cameras and lenses and won't waste research money on tv's, etc...so all the best technology goes towards lenses/cameras, etc.
I have an Olympus E-Volt 500 - i cannot say how much i love it. If i had a million bucks - i would've gone the Nikon D-80 route....but since i don't - i LOVE what i have.

yeah the 40 was plenty for what we needed. We considered the 60 but figured we would never uss the features

The Canon G series are terribly ugly but take pretty amazing pictures! Canon is by far the best!

Any Nikon or Canon Digital SLR is great! Costco has a bundle pack for sale. It's two lenses, cameria body, case, and memory card.
There are several deals there. If your not a member it's like $50 for a year, totally worth it! I do all of my bulk shopping there.

DH & I work for Canon....
DH uses the Canon 20D & has several Canon lenses...
We also have many powershot's... But our latest is the SD 870 which we LOVE - has face detection & a huge LCD screen.
B&H in the city has great prices too!!
