okay...i am in love with my new gown, but i am a slight bit worried about how it will affect my color scheme. i never wanted a pure white dress (i was always more into ivory). well the gown that i ordered (will be finalizing the order and color on saturday) is an antique gold color. (exact color of this pic). i chose the color since it matched perfectly with my greatgrandmothers veil, but part of me is questioning it.
*is it bride-like enough?? will people think anything of it? (let me mention that i DID feel bride like wearing it) esp. with the veil, but i dont think i will be able to wear the veil for the reception since it is so fragile (and it's really long)
*what will i do about tuxes? i think shirts only come in ivory, wont that l still make the gown look 'dirty'. i was thinking FH can wear a vest in the same exact color of my gown with an ivory shirt?? what do you think?
*what about flowers? (cream colored?? will that work?)
*what jewelery will go with the dress? i definately dont want to wear yellow gold even though it would go nicely with the gown. is silver and/or diamond necklace ok? any other ideas?
*BM dress color?? i really want a purple color. i dont think the original peri/purplish blue color will go (that would look better with white). what about a victorian lilac?
i know by now you girls prob think i am so indecisive and crazy. i DO want this gown, and i want it to work....i think i just need help and opinions. i do have the option of ordering it in ivory instead, but i dont know how the beading will look on it in ivory (i saw it in white and the beading was all white with no other color to it). i like the added color in the beading of this gown (this was the one i tried on)

I think the dress is beautiful and the color will be amazing. I personally think you should do a little more of a warmer color to go with the ivory mabye a dusty rose or mauve. Just My Opinion. I would do the gold jewlery just my opinion I think it looks nicer with the color of the dress. I would do a cream color bo-k or go with warm colored flowers
you're right, a dusty rose would look very pretty with this gown. i just feel that purple has always been my favorite color, i just wouldnt feel right picking a pinkish color. but thanks for the tought. there are prob lots of colors that would go, lol, i just really want purple.
you can do a purple i would just go with a softer purple not so much pastel but a darker shade of lavender

i LOVE LOVE LOVE your dress AND your bm dresses. i think that the colors complement each other beautifully and look extremely classy and elegant :) i definitely think that your dress is 'bridey'
for flowers, i agree with many of the girls that you could do some cream flowers and then various shades of purple. absolutely beautiful!
as for jewelry, have you considered pearls? many times they are off-white, and im sure you could find some in a hue that matches. i think they would go with the elegance of your gown. just a thought!!!

I agree! Your gown is beautiful, the bm dresses are beautiful - everything will come together, you'll see!

My gown is also that ivory/gold color, and I am having issues also. I think that as long as the bridemaid dress is a deeper color (like you have) that it will be enough of a contrast. The dress is absolutely bride-y. People will think it looks stunning and they'll be touched that you've picked something that YOU love and that you're combining it with your g-gmas veil.
I think with the jewelry youre just going to have to try things on and see what works with it. Same goes with the headpiece if youre having one in addition to your veil. Gold would go nice, and so would pearls, but I bet if you find the 'right' necklace in diamond and white gold it will also accent the dress perfectly. I think its going to be trial and error, I know thats how I feel about my dress.
With flowers I think cream would look nice - it might be a nice contrast to the gold b/c they're a little cooler in color and then it would also tie your whitegold necklace together nicely w/the whole thing. I think I'm going to have lavander and salmon colored roses with maybe some stephanotis (sp??) here and there. I'm sure whatever you decide will be stunning! Good luck!

I love the dress...You will def look like a bride ...and you will be able to find matching things I am sure !!!

I think its still bride-like bc its not a strong strong gold so don't sweat it. Besides, if you feel like a bride in it, then go with your feelings and wear it. If you'd like to match the bm dresses I think a lilac would look amazingly nice with it. The gm in your idea of having a creamish/goldish vest I think will look nice and tie everything together. I have a lavender bo-k in my album that would look nice if you go with that color scheme

I think it will look fine with your dress. you know I think you and I are in the same boat as far as the color purple. I'm discovering purple is a difficult color to match with other colors. it's either on the grey side or the blueish side....I was trying to do lavender and I don't think I'm going to for the same reason you are concerned with.
So go with your gut and if it doesn't feel right then change it
