Need advice, Going to view an apartment tommorow!!
Hi ladies,
FH and I are going to view a 1BR 1 Bath apartment in Valley Stream tomorrow morning. Any advice on what questions to ask or ways to find out if we are being duped? This is our first time renting so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

make sure you get a lease that specifies all thedetails especially the dates of tenancy and that you pay them with check not cash.

Where in Valley Stream? I grew up there.
Questions to ask:
Price of rent? Security deposit? Brokerage fee? Noise? (my old landlord used to complain that our TV was too loud ) Pets? Smoking? (if applicable) Parking? (you can't park on the streets overnight in VS) Laundry? Utilities included? Use of backyard? School district? / High School? (there are 3 in VS)
Check the faucets, tub, stove, refrigerator, etc. to make sure they all work.
ETA: Lease terms or month-to-month? Move out notice?

this one's kinda psycho but i always would check under the kitchen sinks to see if they had mouse or roach traps.

I saw one in Valley Stream a week ago and had a bad experience! I hope it's not the same place.

we love our apartment, but had never delt with paying for oil before, it is so expensive. We don't wanna move, but can't afford another cold winter of paying for oil. Make sure you know if you have to pay utilities and if you do have to how much they typically run each month or whatever...thats my advice!! And make sure parking is good otherwise it will drive you nuts at night when u get home!!
