Need advice on officiant

So heres the story. A coworker of mine reccomended her good friend to do my wedding. She is a judge in Suffolk County and does not charge. So she passed my info onto the Judge - this was several months ago and I have not heard from the woman. About a month and ahalf ago said coworker told me 'oh judge barbara stopped in the other night but you weren't here but you should be hearing from her soon' At this point I'd rather just go on my own and pay for someone who does this regulary. I am giving this woman till the end of the month and then we're going to look for someone else. How do I break it to my friend that I don't want to use this woman anymore if it comes up? I don't want it to be awkward ya know? I mean I know its her good friend but this is my wedding...

I would just tell her that you haven't heard from her and you need an officiant. Either she's going to do it she's not - but you need to know.

Good luck!

ITA...you can't really wait too long. If you look else where I recommend Pastor April.

This happened with me and a DJ my sister recommended. He wasn't free but said he was giving me a deal. However, since it has been over a month and a half and I haven't heard from him I started making appointments with other DJs. He finally did get in touch with me but I felt it was too little too late and just had a better feeling going to meet with different people. If I don't feel a vendor is taking my wedding seriously I'm not going to use them. Free or not.

Just tell her that you haven't head from her yet, and you set a deadline for when you wanted your officiant booked by, and that deadline has already passed.
