Need advice on officiant

So heres the story. A coworker of mine reccomended her good friend to do my wedding. She is a judge in Suffolk County and does not charge. So she passed my info onto the Judge - this was several months ago and I have not heard from the woman. About a month and ahalf ago said coworker told me 'oh judge barbara stopped in the other night but you weren't here but you should be hearing from her soon' At this point I'd rather just go on my own and pay for someone who does this regulary. I am giving this woman till the end of the month and then we're going to look for someone else. How do I break it to my friend that I don't want to use this woman anymore if it comes up? I don't want it to be awkward ya know? I mean I know its her good friend but this is my wedding...

Just let her know that you don't feel comfortable waiting til the last minute. She shouldn't be offended. You should call Minister Keith (vender on here) He is great!

The fact that she hasn't gotten back to you in such a long time to me says that you do need to go elsewhere...friend or no friend...sorry! You can't put your need for an officiant on hold to wait for someone to get back to you. To me that is a bad sgn and means that someone is unreliable, what if they don't show up on your wedding day?? You wouldn't wait for a non-referral wedding vendor to get back to you this long so why would you wait for a referral this long? Don't mean to sound harsh, I just don't think you should put your plans on hold for someone to get back to you this long
