Need Advice- re: inviting a couple to the wedding

Original post by nrvbrd

Ok, I will make this as brief as possible:

Fh has a friend who has been dating this girl off and on for 5 years.

They have a very tumultuos history together.

Examples:

1. He put a restraining order against her
2. She tried to run him over with her car

On top of that she is very jealous and insecure and from day one has been nagging him to get married.

I think now they are currently 'on'. We told him that we do not want him to bring her to the wedding- since last year.

Also, every time they go to a wedding she gets sad because it is not her and they are very tense.

Now, he is hinting he wants to bring her, promising they will behave.

I told FH NO WAY!!!

thoughts please.

Keish, it's YOUR wedding and it's what YOU & FH want. PERIOD.

I wouldn't want her there either, matter of fact, I didn't not invite my mom's BF of 14 yrs casue I can't stand him.

You do what you want. I don't think you are being mean.
It's your day & it's once in a lifetime!!

Nope- not coming at you at all- just wanted to point out that often times you can't control everything around you.. that's all. not trying to be mean- just trying to show other side of the coin as sometimes you only get people agreeing with you. When I am making a decision I would much rather see both sides of the story instead of have everyone concur.

after reading everyone's post i still think you shouldnt invite her, because what really sticks in my head is you said she tried to run him over and the restraining order, thats pretty bad....
and even if she doesnt fight with him at he wedding... is she going to throw a hissy fit if she doesnt catch the bouquet?

Thanks butterfly, those two things stuck in my mind as well.

We all fight with our guys, Fh and I went to a wedding once and had a disagreement- it happens.
However these two are rather extreme.

Sassy, I too like to look at the other side of the coin and hear everyone's opinion, good or bad, that is why I come to this board. I thought you were against me, when you made that comment about the couple getting ejected.

Thanks for your advice

I kind of had a similar experience. My Husbands friend has this 'girlfriend' who I think is mentally unstable. I didn't want her at the wedding but I felt that if she's crazy she might come anyway uninvited and cause a problem for my husbands friend. He told us that if she started to act up and cause a problem for him or us, that they'd leave very quietly, since he wasn't in the bridal party. I felt better that he said that he'd leave if something happened so I invited him with her, and they had a nice time and NOTHING HAPPEDED thank god. Do what you feel is right. It's YOUR WEDDING remember that. Invite who you want and don't feel bad about it!! And remember to have FUN

I say no way..... AND you have already expressed this sentiment.

I think that your friend also needs an intervention to help him.
