Re: Need advice ... vent!

Each year we take seperate weekends away, once, me with the girls, him with the boys, but b/c of the wedding, we are forfeitting this years.
It was a joint decision, and we are both OK with it.

Does he know how you feel?

Re: Need advice ... vent!

He knows I'm not crazy about the annual trip but I let him go anyway so he can call me from Vegas and be miserable w/o me. Its pretty funny = i wish you girls could hear the whining phone calls.

I think this year should be different b/c of the wedding coming up and we're looking for a house.

I will discuss with him later and let him know how I feel and offer a compromise.

Re: Need advice ... vent!

I would certainly discuss it. FI and I have forfeited going away till the honeymoon together or even seperate! we just can't do it. $2000 can get you alot for your wedding!

Re: Need advice ... vent!

I don't have much advice to offer on how to discuss, but I do have to say this... $1300 seems like way too much money to be paying for a 5 day trip to Las Vegas. Hotel rooms there are like $100 a night tops, an he ought to be sharing with his buds which would make it a fraction of that. Airfare shouldn't be more then $300. How does it add up to $1300 before food/gambling?

Re: Need advice ... vent!

Definitely talk about it, especially as you're engaged, you should both be happy with the final result. Maybe he can just go for a weekend instead of 5 days. That will save on money and save on stress.

Relay your feelings, and be honest w/o being pushy, and work out a compromise you both can live with. Good Luck

Re: Need advice ... vent!

I'd have a tough time with this one. Although I'm all for my FH spending time with his friends, I'd hope that he'd forfeit a trip with them (just for this year), or at least do something alittle less expensive, while I was cutting corners to save up. It's a tough situation..

Re: Need advice ... vent!

I have to agree with you in being soooooo *#@!ed I probably would kill him too. It just doesn't seem fair that you have been sacrificing so much and he goes on a $1300 5 day vacation without you. 2 things- If money is really tight and you need to save then he shouldn't be going. And secondly, if it is bothering you so much that he is going, he should respect your feelings and not go. Its that simple.
