need advice with when dress fitting

I asked this to my 07 brides but I thought I'd try here too

Hi! Kleinfeld's called yesterday that my dress came in but they suggest I don't come in until the end of January. That worried me but I finally settled for Jan 11. Now I keep thinking I should call back because I was really planning on going over the Holiday break because I'm a teacher and I'm off from school. I'm also having some changes made to the dress and a shrug made for me so I don't want to cut it too close. Does or did anyone else panic when the dress store wanted you to wait until 8 weeks before the wedding for a fitting?? or maybe this is only Kleinfeld's policy I am very happy with them so far but I'm just worried I will be rushed at the end??? what do you think?

I don't think that its an unreasonable amount of time. I think that I went about two months before my wedding for my first fitting. They probably deal with a lot of people gaining or losing weight and they don't want to do it too far ahead. I wouldn't stress over it.
