Say that it really hurt your feelings that FH was not offered a ticket. FH is family as far as you're concerned and you wish he had been acknowledged as such. I would mention that FH was okay with it (you don't want your dad to think this is coming from FH) but that you took it personally whether your dad meant to or not.

i think this is probably the best way to go. i know what will wind up happening is that i will go without FH....but i feel like i need to say something about it or it will eat me up inside.

now i'm just not sure if i should mention the fact that it's before our wedding (which we've been planning for a year) and that's why this is putting us in a tough situation.

why not say what you stated before and say if this had been after our wedding, it wouldn't have a been a problem, but since it is, we are kind of strapped for cash....
say it in passing and not make it the highlight of your convo

I'd probably just stay quiet and go for a few days without FH. Try to make a vacation with your sister out of it. Not too much wedding stuff.

i think this is a good point.

also, thanks for your honest opinion. i just got off the phone with FH before reading your first post and your #1 thought was EXACTLY what i said to FH. just bc i'm getting married people's lives do not stop. FH is more upset by this (people getting engaged and married before us) than the fact that his ticket wasn't paid for.

i'm still not sure what (if anything) i'll say to my dad, but i will definitely keep your points in mind.

Having lost my father at a young age. I agree with the other poster that you do not want this to be something you missed. Your dad didn't say he didnt' want FH there but I think he feels that you are adults and could pay your way. I know saving for a wedding is crazy expensive but at the end of the day he is your dad no matter what.

Once a family memeber is gone that's it there is no going back. I think your Dad is an important person in your life, granted you're probably pissed but he is still your dad.

thanks vanessa. you're right. i know i would never actually miss this event...my dad is too important to me. i think i'm just having a moment right now.

Well it sounds like you've got yourself a free trip to st homas next year for 1.

2. It doesn't sound like your dad is saying he only wants YOU to come and your FH is not invited. You're his daughter; it's just nice enough that he's willing to pay for you to go. He doesn't have to do that. So he doesn't have to pay for FH or any guests that would come to the wedding. If FH can't afford to go; then that's fine. You go and you have a great time w/your sister. It were different if you were an only child and had no one to go with. Just think of it as your last time to go away just as sisters; no husbands; no kids.

It's ok to travel w/out your FH's. Just think about it as an extra bachelorrette party w/your sis. If it means that much for FH to go; then maybe he'll find a way to pay for his own fare.

ETA: someone made a good point about finding a good deal-maybe start looking now. You're accomadations are taken care of so wouldn't you only have to pay for airfare? I'm sure you can make it work. Otherwise just go w/out FH and enjoy your time with your sister :)

I agree with anney and vanessa- I would have a talk with dad and let him knwo how you feel about it. in teh same respect I would still go... as vanessa said, you are only given one dad. it really is a tough situation. and then someone else said also - there might be deals now on flights. maybe if FH DOES want to go, you can get something cheap for him since its off season.
if you realyl want FH to go with you, I would sit down with him and see if there is some way you can both afford to pay for his way down. and then at least you know at that point if it is even feasible for Dru to go.

I am sorry you are in this situation Kerri!!! its a sucky decision to have to make.
