Ok, here is the deal.... I had my best friends bachelorette party this weekend and I organized the whole thing. I was in communication with the bridal party the whole time confirming that the things I was planning were ok with them and that the $$ wasn't an issue.... We had decided on: Spa in the afternoon Dinner at 8 Bars/clubs after dinner Hotel for the night and brunch the next day....
Here is what happened....(keep in mind there are only 5 of us including the bride)
2 days beforethe party one of the girls cancels b/c she has strep throat...ok, no big deal....
Day of the party, girl #2 cancels....'doesn't feel good and is really tight on cash' (NOW I AM PISSED)
Day of the party - girl #3 has planned to meet us at dinner (couldn't come to the Spa b/c she had to work) and when she gets there she tells us that she isn't staying at the hotel b/c she has to get up really early.....
I ENDED UP SPENDING $850.00 and am SO PISSED!!!!!!!!!!!
I didn't make a big deal of it that night b/c I didn't want to upset the bride (even though I know she was really hurt and disappointed) But I really want to let them know that what happened was UNACCEPTABLE and they OWE ME $$$$$
HELP!!!! I need to do this in a tactful way so there isn't any tension at the wedding...... These girls are not MY friends, but the brides.....

Re: Need advice....(Long)!
If they agreed to the price, then they should owe the money, especially the ones that weren't sick.
Just call them to give them freindsly reminder that they owe you money for the things, even if they didn't stay at the hotle or attend, because laid out a lot of money.

Re: Need advice....(Long)!
send them a nice e-mail with a bill and instructions as to how to get the $$ to you - they all agreed to it and need to own up. Cancelling the day before or day of is not acceptable. For the one who told you that $ was tight if you feel so inclined mention to her that she can pay you half now and half at a future date that you agree upon.
WHAT NERVE!!! I'd kill them if it was me!!

Jess- This happened to me too! Two of the BMs didn't want to come because it was in the City- which is 'dangerous'.. I told them that this was party of their duties as BM and that they had to pay-
As R&T said- get the bride involved- I had to do the same thing! If they agreed to the price- they are responsible.

Re: Need advice....(Long)!
I HATE GIRLS!!
They have to pay up. Present it to them tactfully, but they HAVE to pay up. I'd say all of them but the one with strep...

Re: Need advice....(Long)!
I am just so upset and can't believe people can be so inconsiderate!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was hoping they had enough sense to contact me about it - but I realize now that they are going to try and just let it slide and I don't $850.00 to blow on a party when I am trying to pay for my own wedding too!!!

Re: Need advice....(Long)!
We had two girls like this at my SIL's bachelorette party. We let the bride know and I don't think she speaks to the girls now.

Dear so and so,
Bride and I were so disappointed you weren't able to make the BP. We had a great time and it would have been even more fun if you could have been there. As you know, the total of the party was $x and your share is $x. I'd appreciate it if you could send a check to me as soon as you can.
Thanks, Sage

Re: Need advice....(Long)!
Thanks for the advice everyone.... T - the reason I have to be so careful about getting the bride involved is b/c one of the girls is the brides FSIL. The bride knows what happened and has apologized profusely to me for it....But I just don't want to cause her any undue stress just a few weeks before her wedding....
It's just a really sticky situation....

Re: Need advice....(Long)!
This same situation happened to me not too long ago...It ****s!!! Unfortunately I just paid it and never said another word about it because
(A) I am a big chicken
(B) I didn't really know the other girls and
(C) I didn't want to bother or upset the bride with the whole situation.
I wish I had better advice for you! Good luck!

Re: Need advice....(Long)!
I really don't think you should stay quiet about this...its just not fair to you. As long as they were aware of the costs and the fact that you were all splitting it, it shouldn't be a problem. Kindly write them a note/email just like the above post... If they don't respond then use force! (just kidding, of course!!)

Re: Need advice....(Long)!
They owe you that money!!! The NERVE!! I would FLIP if my BMs did that to one of my friends...I'm flipping just thinking about being in your situation.
Do the letter, don't worry about being tactful - $850 buys you the right to have an attitude!

Re: Need advice....(Long)!
Every one of them owes you, even the girl with strep. They are not paying for their time out, they are chipping in so that the bride can have a great time. If they haven't paid by the wedding, get the bride involved after the honeymoon.....
