need advice....rehearsal dinner?

I have a lot of out of town guests....one asked me the plans for the rehearsal dinner.
I wasn't planning on one b/c ithought that the groom's parents did that,,,,,,and my FH parents aren't doing it.

is this specifically for out of town guests? Is it rude NOT to have it?

Also, is it really for rehearsing? How do you actually rehearse? Doesn't the actual 'rehearsal' happen an hour or so before the ceremony? Advice please!

The rehearsal is usually a day or two before your wedding and then after the rehearsal you usually get together with the bridal party and family to thank everyone and hand out the gifts for BM's and GM it could be at your house or parents house it doesnt have to be a big thing HTH

All the reherasals I have been to happen usually on the Friday before the wedding--- and only if its at a place seperate from the hall (a church, synogoue, or similar)

If you are getting married at the hall then I don't think there is an opportunity to rehearse days before hand. I think it happens right before your actual wedding.

The rehearsal is meant to do a run thru for the ceremony, if you are having your ceremony at a church of a place of worship (basically anywhere except the hall) they usually schedule a run thru-some halls may do it-im not sure!

Usually the RD is meant for your family (bros, sisters, parents and the bridal party) and is usually hosted by the grooms family.

It can be big or small, and it may be nice to invite your OOT guests if you can swing it. you can do it at home or at a nice restaurant-its all your choice-you dont have to have one at all if you dont want.
