Need Alterations on Dress - clueless!!

Hi ladies - I bought my dress at Davids Bridal and currently it is at FMIL's house in East Islip. I don't want to have my fitting done at David's beacause of horror stories and also I thought their alterations were a little expensive ( my alterations would pretty much cost more than my dress itself!!) -

Does anyone have a tailor on long island that is reasonable and does alot of work on wedding dresses? FMIL wants me to take it to her local cleaner/tailor but I would rather someone who is more skilled at working on wedding gowns.. my gown is simple (no beading, no lace) and my alterations would probably include, taking top bust area in, hem and bustle....

I would appreciate any info you ladies could give me!!!

The seamstress at Fantasia Bridal (Rocky Point) is amazing!!

Maybe Burton's? Not sure if they'll work on an outside dress, though!

where in long island are you? I got my dress altered at Dutch Girl French Style Cleaners in mt. sinai in the king kullen shopping center. Leanne did the alterations and she did a great job!

ETA: she is a designer and really knows her stuff!!!!

My girls all took their BM dresses to Rosie's Tailoring in Centereach. They were telling Rosie the horrible time I was having at David's with my dress, and Rosie told them I should bring it to her. She says she gets countless brides coming there with mess ups from David's Bridal! I believe if you check Yahoo! for Rosie's Tailoring, she comes up w/ the address and phone number. Good luck!
