I am having the hardest time finding a place to live! We're looking for a place preferably in Nassau for around $1000 a month with utilities included and we don't want a basement. And it HAS to be clean......does anyone know of any? I've tried Newsday and craigslist, does anyone know of any other sites????? HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!

Re: Need an Apartment!!!!!
It's so funny you put it needs to be clean...because it REALLY IS SCARY what some people are trying to pass off as livable.
I would say your best bet is to check the towns you're interested in Pennysaver, Hometown, etc., but this too will be a trial and error thing.
You could go with a Realtor, but the fees are a month's rent.

Re: Need an Apartment!!!!!
I'm in the same boat! We're spending a bit more because all the places we looked at in the price range were in basements or in 'bad' neighborhoods. So we found 1 we like in the Fairhaven apartment complex in Carle Place, it's $1300 plus electric so it's not bad. Very nice apartments and very clean! I checked on craigslist and there's one in Jericho/Westbury in a house but 1st floor for $1250/all. Here's the link:
you can check http://www.mlsli.com/ not sure if there are apts. on there though...

Re: Need an Apartment!!!!!
I was just checking on there for her. I don't see any apartment listing just homes, town houses, condo's etc..
At least the craigslist updates every 24 hours I believe.. keep checking there. Good luck.

Re: Need an Apartment!!!!!
I can tell you right now it is hard as heck on LI to find a place if your a couple. And an appartment for a $1000 is becoming less and less possible theses days. I know a good friend of mine is renting his house out for $2400 and he has three people there already, so theres an extra room that will be $1000. The other tenets are will to pick up the untlies. Its a nice place near the LIE and the LIRR. If your interested FM me. But thats the best I can suggest. You would have full use of the house. I know its high, but LI is getting VERY steep. My friend is just looking to cover the morage on the house and its taxes.

I saw one in Bellmore the other day off of Bellmore Ave for $1200/all. It was such a nice apartment on a gorgeous block but too far south for FH and I (we want Westbury, Carle Place, Mineola). I found it on craigslist.com. I'll try to find the realtors card so you can call her to make an appointment.

Re: Need an Apartment!!!!!
Looking for an apartment can be torturous. FH and I really lucked out with this one. I just wanted to reply to this post and tell you to keep your options open. You may not want to cut out the basement apartments. We are living in a 2 bedroom basement apartment that is gorgeous. It depends on the house. We are in a high ranch so we have windows and all. It was by far the nicest apartment we looked at. Had we said no to every basement apartment we would have passed on a great one. You may just want to call and ask how high the ceilings are. This is always a good judgement of basement apartments. good luck :)

sorry, if you dont mind me asking...was it listed as a basement apartment? because technically high ranches dont have basements. it's just considered the lower level. so you definitely lucked out if it was listed as a basement, because technically it's not. congrats on your find!
