need better GM gift ideas....

FH wants to get them cuff links.. out of the 5 of them, ONE will use them.

bridal party consists of
BM- FBIL (dating, age 29)
GM1- FBIL (married, age 39)
GM2- FBIL (married, age 36)
GM3- my bro (married, age 42)
GM4- my nephew/fh's godson (single, age 13)

RB1- fh's nephew (age 8)
RB2- fh/s nephew (age 6)

all their personalities are so different,
BM likes to bbq, go to movies
GM1 commutes, very business oriented, loves spending time with his kids
GM2 works bunches, has two young kids, he's the funny one in the family
GM3, likes comedy, playing video games, drag racing
GM4 LOVES videogames

both RBs are into sports

idk, I just dont think the cuff link idea is a good one, I mean, GM1 will use them, but I know GM3 won't- EVER (besides on the wedding day)

we dont want to do gift cards, we want something they can keep and use. I was thinking of bbq tools, but BM and GM1 are the only two that really bbq....

URGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! see, my girls were easy, wristlets, perfume and eventually a necklace for the wedding.

FGs are easy, jewelry boxes, DOJ and a little flower girl doll.

WHY ARE MEN SO HARD TO SHOP FOR!?!?!?!?

DH bought his guys watches and they all loved them. What guy doesn't like a nice watch?

I'm pretty sure his brother did that.

I'll suggest it (again), I've also suggested sunglasses- fh doesn't like that idea.

thanks laura

It's tough but you cant' cater towards everyone. We got the guys custom cufflinks so that it's the same yet different for each one. 1 is a small monopoly board, 1 is yankees, 1 mets, 1 golf, 1 rangers, and 1 star wars.

We also got them personalized beer mugs from fizzy and monogramed swiss army knives.

Our GM's were a huge problem too. Ages were from 25 to 42...most had been GM's ina million other weddings and had already received watches, wallets, zippos, flasks, money clips, cufflinks...sooooooo

We ended up getting them swiss army knives. We're also gonna give them cigars and a bottle of liquor.

HTH!

We got our GM's crystal decanters from Things remembered with their last names on them. And a bottle of their favorite liquor.HERE!

my nephew can't have the swiss army knife
my brother just quit smoking, so no cigars
i was thinking a bottle of liquor, but again, my nephew.

i would have loved wallets & cologne... but FBIL gave all the guys wallets for christmas (really GOOD wallets)...

We had a similiar problem- they were all very different. In the end, we got them good quality, BOSE headphones. Everyone has an ipod and everyone listens to music, so it was perfect!

FH got his GMs pocket watches that were engraved and pilsner glasses engraved. We'll find out Friday if they like them but all his friends can't wear watches in construction and the pocket watch is a nice keepsake.

I wouldn't get your nephew the same gifts as the other GM anyway since he's much much younger. We have a Jr. GM who is 10 and the only thing we got him that's the same is the customized glass.

Thanks girls--- keep the ideas coming!!

no can do on the headphones, i think i'm the only one that has an ipod.

i can't see any of our brothers using a pocket watch

and my nephew might have to get something different, but we're not sure yet, i think it depends on what we pick.

originally we were going to do customized cuff links, but like i said... i KNOW my brother and nephew wouldn't use them and i can't see two of his brothers using them either.

i wanted to do something like a customized license plate holder/frame or a plaque, but thats more of a 'couple' gift and the girls are already getting gifts from us.

Do they all like sports? We got each of them a customized sports jersey with their favorite team, their last name and '10 on the back.

Are you set on getting them all the same thing? DH has been in two weddings and in both of them all of the GM got different things. Maybe that's your way to go?

We are either getting them a nice tie(like Burberry) or personalized large beer mugs lol.

Re: need better GM gift ideas....

Are they beer drinkers? What about a beer of the month clubs? We found ones that deliver all different kinds of microbrews, and we got them each a 3 month subscription. Especially good for my brothers who will be flying in for the wedding....they don't have to carry anything back with them on the plane. We are doing that with a nice set of pint glasses...you could even get personalized pint glasses...'Johns Bar'.

none of them really drink, they have wine with dinner.. sometimes a beer at a bbq or party... but thats really it.

we got them the classic burberry ties to wear the day of and I am 99% sure FH is leaning towards the matching burberry money clip as well.....

agreed. Then you can spend the same on each of them, and still manage to individualize each gift for their specific age and tastes!
