Need Catering Hall Advice/Help

OKay soooo...im sure many of you heard how the Beach Club Estates (sister hall of Windows on the Lake) does not have their renovations being done on time. Because of this, I went hall searching for a new hall (which was fun of course) and got to look at all these places I never got a chance to look at.

Im from out of town and I need to make my decision soon since my wedding is June of 2008 (on a thursday so luckily people have my date open!).

I need opinions on the following 3 places that are now my top contenders after looking at seemingly every place on LIweddings.com (ha!). Please don't give me your opinions on other halls because more than likely I saw them and theres a reason why they are not on this list!.

The first hall I am choosing from is East Wind. Obviously it is beautiful!! My only concern is the fact that the outdoor cocktail hour is not a main attraction (its mainly set up indoors). They are going to give me the Northhampton Ballroom which is an awesome size for the party we are having (approx. 100). Please send all opinions/recommendations and concerns about this hall (its not far for our guests so this is not an issue for us). I am goign to the bridal showcase today.

The second hall we are choosing from is Historical Thatched Cottage. It is beautiful with the waterview and more of a intimate setting for the wedding. My concerns are that the food is 'french style' and I am not sure if we would like that or not. Anyone ever taste the food? is it good? also it seems as if you do not get as much food during cocktail hour and the lines may be long due to 'made to order'. Please provide all reviews for this place as well.

The last hall is Lombardi's on the sound. I actually did not see the hall yet but I need to get opinions in advance due to the fact we need to make a decision later on today and I am driving home today and will not have access to the computer. The hall seems like it may not be as fancy from the pictures. Any other concerns people may have with the hall please share. Going to showcase today as well. !

Please please help! and share whose your favorite out of the 3 if u visited or been to an event.

HI,

I have not been to any of the halls but I've heard fantastic things about East Wind Caterers. In addition, there was a recent review about the Historical Thatched Cottage by a LIW bride, I think her name is CuriousGeorge. You should FM her.
I'm so sorry this is happening to you and wish you the best of luck!!!

I'm getting married at TC, there is more food than you will know what to do with at cocktail hour! There are so many stations and 35 different passed appetizers.
French service means that they bring the food out to you hot, serve you table side -- it doesn't mean french food.
We had our tasting there, and it was really good.
NO matter which you pick, I don't think you can go wrong.

I love East Wind and Lombardis is beautiful as well....I have never been to Thatched Cottage, but there are several brides getting married there who are on here...to spite the stress that this whole situation must have caused you, it must be kinda fun to get a second shot at looking at RH's again...that was my favorite part...good luck to you

I am booked at East Winds and I love them. They have been nothing but helpful with everything and their food is fantastic.

I vote for East Wind...that was at the top of our list however it would have been at least over an hour drive for most guests, so we went more local...however the grounds are gorgeous, and i've heard nothing but great things
