My computer had a problem.. I ran my anti virus and my spybot program, and it removed some excess garbage, and now, my computer wont let me change the display settings from the lowest color 16 to the full color screen setings.. I have tried, and it said that it would need to restart.. and I have restarted like a dozen times and I am getting soooo frustrated... WHAT DO I DO?!?!?! I need to do some important/ buisness related work on here and it looks like everything is in safe mode... HELP!!!!! TIA

Dunno, I would run defrag, maybe download MS updates and restart... My computer got blown out the other day during a power outage and I had to run chkdsk but that took all night!

no, unfortunately i cannot reset this computer to a previous date-- at least I dont think so .. I know you can do it on a Dell.. but this computer is kinda old...
I went to Microsoft and downloaded updates and even reintalled the program I have saved to my computer.. and still nothing...
Any other suggeestions would be grealty appreciated... I really need this fixed.. Thanks!

click on the start button, right click on my computer and hit properites...
look on the hardward tab for something called device manager.
Do you have an X on anything?
Click the + sign on the Display Adapters and respond what is in there...
what operating system is this?

YOU HELPED ME LAST TIME!! LOL..OK... I have no MY COMPUTER on the start, however, i have it on the main screen... Last time I lost my win.2000, and I installed the windows 98.. (I know ancient!).. anyway.. When I right clicked on my comp. and clicked on properties, Hardware profile had no list.. jus a blue highlighted bar that said ORIGINAL CONFIGURATION... The Device MGR tab had a list of stuff... and there were no x's but a couple of ? marks in yellow and a couple had and !... The computer keeps telling me when I restart it that there is a problem with the Display adapter and myprogram cannot support it -- something along those lines... Please help.. I am going crazy.. computer worked fine last night!!!!!!

what kind of computer is this?
i think you may have a driver issue (this is why we are looking here)

They were by the unknown devices... there is the usb cable that connects my digital camera to the tower.. none say video card...
How do i tell what kind of computer it is... its an old one and it doesnt have a 'name' on the front...

so if you click on the + sign next to video devices, what does it say there and are there any marks??
windows 98 is old...its hard for me to say what is where cause i dont remember..
