Who did you use, or going to use? When you meet with them privately, what do they do, show you a video?
Also, the DJ is not the 'MC', right? Do you need an MC?

Re: Need DJ recommendations...
We booked with Vinny from High Voltage
We did not book an MC which is different from the DJ. An MC is used to 'get the party started' makes comments here and there, tries to motivate people on the dance floor and creates a really fun environment. We opted to not have one because our family and friends like to have a good time- we didn't feel it was necessary to have an MC when Vinny does such a great job.
Good luck!

Re: Need DJ recommendations...
I'm using VJ Entertainment (LIW vendor). I went to about 5 DJ's and I liked him the best. AND he gave me the best deal. Most of them showed us video clips of their MCs doing their thing. Personally, I think you do need an MC to make all the announcements and to just keep the flow going. I made it very clear that I do not want an MC on the mike all night, forcing people to dance or doing any other annoying behavior. He's just there to announce us in, announce when it's time to eat, coordinate the cake and all that and that's pretty much it.
They will also try show you the lighting, the plasma TV's and any other thing they have to add to your wedding. In the end, we just went with who we felt most comfortable with.

I am using 'Get In Tune' they are a LIweddings vendor. We met with Glenn and he showed us some video but I had seen them at a showcase. FH just wanted to have a DJ but I wanted to have a DJ and MC...i want the MC to get people dancing and my maid of honor went to a wedding the day before we booked with them and they were the DJ and she said it was so much fun...if you need any other info just e-mail me...

I've used Absolute Entertainment in the past for different parties I've had and now I've booked them for my wedding too. They are very good. They will show you a video if you want to see one. I recommend having an MC because without one, you'll have one person doing both jobs, DJ and MC, which can get crazy I would think. They're prices were reasonable and the guy was really nice. He was really interested in hearing what we wanted which was good. My FH is a little picky and doesn't want someone to talk over the music all night. They seemed to be accomodating. Good luck!

I've heard really good things about High Voltage and Tommy Tunes. We went with Phil from After Hours.

We used High Energy Entertainement and they were awesome. We didn't meet with him before we booked him so I can't tell you what he would do. A DJ I did meet with showed us a video, gave us a price list, and sample songs for father/daughter dances, etc. ETA: DJ and MC are two different people. It's nice to have the MC to annouce specific points in the night and to get your guests moving. They can be as vocal or as quiet as you want them to be.

Re: Need DJ recommendations...
We are using Frank from FM Entertainment. We are only having around 110 people so he is going to be the DJ and MC. We had a private showcase with him and he had everything all set up and pretended that it was our wedding to show us what it would be like. He played some songs and did introductions like he would do that day. We booked him on the spot.

We used Dash of Class. Mike was our DJ and was phenominal. I first heard of Dash of Class because my friend used them for her wedding and I was so impressed by them that I knew that I wanted them for my wedding. Everyone was dancing at my wedding and had such a great time. People are still raving about it.
