Need fashion help.

I am going to an afternoon wedding. I am wearing a black sleeveless dress that falls slightly below my knees. I have great sandals to wear with it.
Is it a big fashion no-no to wear pantyhose with open-toe shoes?
I don't feel comfortable with my bare (not so tan) legs sticking out for a fancy wedding.

Donna KAren/ or DKNY wake very sheer stockings... you have to get a really sheer to pull it off if not your legs will look a littel oragne if you get a nude that is not the right color.

I've heard that you shouldn't wear panty hose with open toe shoes in the summer but I can't see going without them to a wedding.

I am so NOT a fan of pantyhose with open toed shoes - no matter what time of year it is.

Please please please dont wear pantyhose with open toe shoes! Even the ones that are 'seamless' or 'sandal foot' so do not work!

If you are looking for a little control, Spanx makes a great product:

I cant find a photo but you can also buy 'thong' pantyhose that are open at the toe and fit between your toes like a flip flop. Hard to explain but I think most department stores have them.

The reason I want to wear pantyhose is because my legs aren't that tan. I don't think the dress looks nice on me without the pantyhose.
What to do?
I can't be the only one without tan legs. What does everyone else do?
AHHHH!!! I'm tempted to just go out and buy a nice pant suit now.

My sandals have little tiny straps so that pantyhose you described wouldn't work.

Personally, I would wear the dress - tanned legs or not. I'm not into the tanned look so much anymore - it just doesn't look all that healthy to me (especially knowing that it's NOT!).

If you're really that uncomfortable, use a self tanner or go to a tanning booth where they spray you - what is that, Hollywood tan or something?

Also, with the toeless pantyhose I think it would look silly with your white toes hanging out against your 'tan' legs. JMO, though.

I know it goes against most people's fashion advice on this site - but I wear sandal foot pantyhose with dressy/fancy high heeled sandals to weddings. I know how to perfectly hide the seam and I never have it exposed and I have no problems with it. I have seen and I know others (who I consider fashionable) that do the same - so I say go with what makes you comfortable. I go against the majority on this site though.

I hear it is improper not to wear it with sandals but I also hear it is improper not to wear stockings to a formal event - if both go against etiquette - then I am left with closed toe shoes which I hate when I am getting dressed up for a wedding.

I have to say - this weekend I wore a dress to an evening wedding similar length as you described and I did not wear hose with my sandals and I did feel a little more casual for some reason. But since your event is day - it should not be an issue. If you think you legs not being tan need some help, I would wear very sheer sandalfoot hose - but that JMO.

They sell pantyhose that cover your entire foot but stop right before your toes. It has a string that goes between your first 2 toes to keep them in place. Although I dispise stockings and go out of my way to not have to wear them, I have friends who have worn these so they can wear strappy sandals. I know they sell them at Love My Shoes, not sure where else though.

My shoes have very tiny straps so there is no way I can hide that toeless pantyhose. Its either pantyhose or no pantyhose. I can always hide the seam under my feet.

NO, it is the size of dental floss that goes between your first 2 toes. You would see the pantyhose on the top of your foot, but your toes would be out. They also sell seemless stockings so there is no seem at your toes, or it is under your foot.

It seems like you already have your mind made up about wearing stocking though. So if you don't mind it, then go for it. I just hate stockings in general.

I hate stockings too but I don't think I feel comfortable wearing a dress to a wedding without them. If it was a sundress,then I would have no problem.For some reason I would feel too casual without the pantyhose.
