I am going to an afternoon wedding. I am wearing a black sleeveless dress that falls slightly below my knees. I have great sandals to wear with it. Is it a big fashion no-no to wear pantyhose with open-toe shoes? I don't feel comfortable with my bare (not so tan) legs sticking out for a fancy wedding.

Re: Need fashion help.
question...if you are planning on wearing really sheer stockings, why do you need to wear them at all? What is the difference? If you are worried about looking too casual, I would assume you are thinking about wearing black stockings, but that isn't the case here.

I want to wear sheer stockings. Its not the same as wearing no stockings. My legs look much better in pantyhose.

NovemberSue, Whenever I wear an eloegant dress with open toed shoes, I NEVER wear stockings.. it's very tacky looking, I'm sorry.. you won't look any less elegant.. just be sure to have a good pedicure put baby oil on your legs..

I guess the baby oil will help. Maybe I should get my butt outside and get some more sun. For some reason, my legs don't tan as good as the rest of me.

I'm with Marcella - I NEVER wear stockings when I wear an elegant dress...I think that look is tacky.
Why not try a sun-less tanner if your legs don't tan well naturally?

I agree 100% with Marcella.
Sue, what about a self tanner?

Kim, last time I used a self tanner, I didn't do it evenly and it left a streak down my leg. Then I had to wear pants and cover up for several days. Funny now. Wasn't too funny at the time.

What if you tried exfoliating, then using a lighter color and making sure you rub in evenly. I don't do self tanners, I get good color, but I am sure some of the girls on here could help you pick a good one.

Re: Need fashion help.
Do you have ANY color on your legs? you have the following options..
1) go tanning.. use Dark & Sexy Legs.. that stuff WORKS!!!
2) if you do have some color.. use the baby oil with some liquid bronzer and put some on your legs.. it'll give your legs some 'definition' and give them shine and color

I have a better tan on my upper body. My legs don't really tan easily for some reason.

Sue, you might also try Nutrogena self tanning spray! I use it all the time and it works great, no streaks and very natural color! Just make sure you rub it in well and evenly! If it wasn't for Nutrogena, I would never be able to wear skirts in June!
