Need feedback on Chateau Le Mer and John Anthony's

Looking for some recent feedback on the two places. Trying to help out a friend who just got engaged and is interested in both. Thanks for your help girls

I attended a wedding last August at Chateau Le Mer and everything was great.

When I was looking at halls, I went to Chateu La Mer & the door bottoms were filthy, as were the rugs.

I went during the day time, & I guess when you look for a place for your OWN wedding, you look at alot.

Also, they have been known on the news to have their share of power outages.

Yes, they had a power outage at a friends wedding and they did not even credit them money or anything!

YOU WILL LOVE JOHN ANTHONYS!!! I was there for a wedding in May and everything was great the food was really good at the particular wedding I was at I didn't think it was enough food not at the C.T.H but the actual sit down this is probably because I love to eat :o). The other thing if you are expecting 150 or more people you might not like that they all will not be able to sit down for the C.T.H I thought that was tight. The place itself is beautiful and its nice that its on the water. The only thing I know about Chateau Le Mer is that my boss whose been married 5years got married there and all his guests including themselveds got food poising. thats happened everywhere i'm sure I just don't know anything else about the place. My best friend also attended a wedding at John Anthonys last weekend and her and her FI decided that that was the place.

John Anthonys is beautiful...just make sure to check your contract.

I am getting married at Chateau La Mer in July and I love the place. They just redid the front doors, the bathrooms, the bridal suite, the back patio and they put in NEW RUGS and new floors. So basically everything is new. Everyone has there own opinions and I think you should check it out for yourself. The atrium room (the big main room) is beautiful with floor to ceiling windows and a very nice view of the water. It has a nice deck in the back with a gazebo and you can have tables out there for your cocktail hour. I just love it and am very happy with imy decision. If you have any questions you can FM me.

I second what LISA04 said. Chateau la mer just did a lot of renovations, everything that people have complained about in the past has been changed ie. rugs, doors. It is so new and beautiful. I love it!!! And the price was right. there is new management and there havent been any power problems for quite some time, see for yourself. I looked at a lot of places and it was so unique, and exactly what we were looking for, FM me also if u have any questions.

I loved John Anthony's! The one reason why we did not book them was we were more into scenery than the water aspect. The place is gorgeous!!!

Hi. I'm looking for a waterview too, (If Steven will agree.) I have been to both places recently and I had my eye on things cause I was waiting for my ! I can give you my opinion. Both places have great views. similar set up. I was at Chateu Le mer two times and JA's once. First of all I have been asking alot about both for my wedding and everyone I talk too agrees that all the questionable Chateu Le mer things were Old news. Its under new management (the son now owns it) The staff is well trained and polite. (my neighbor's neice works there and says everything is fresh and very sanitary)The place is completely renovated and looks amazing. All high end, very, very elegant. The food was absolutely awesome both times. Consistant. And they offered everyone seconds at dinner. Cocktail hour had tons of delish food also. The are known for their service and food now. No old or worn out anything in CLM anymore. Lots of marble and granite now. JA's is also pretty understated elegance. but has a small deck outside for my taste. The food was good. (no seconds offered though) Amazing martinis though! YAY! and very nice waitress at my table. We got 2 dinner choices at JA 1 was a combo. and 4 at CLM. I was also concerned about the power outage thing. The scoop is same as anywhere else, if the neighborhood goes out they go out. no more no less. (FIL works as a sub contractor LIPA)I did love the automatic entry door at CLM for the guests to enter through. I would have liked to see a flag on the flag pole at CLM. There was none. I think waterfront aND I think Flags in the breeze. Like a boat sail. It sounds nice at an outdoor CH. Lets see what else. Maybe I am biased because I was at CLM 2 times so I enjoyed 2 excellent weddings first hand. I thnk CLM is incredible. contact me if you want more info.

I live right down the road from JA and the weddigns there don't stop. I've been to several and the food is out of this world. They have an option of Filet Mignon and Chicken Franchaisse (sp) at the same time. A piece of each! Amazing.

I wnet to a wedding at CLM 2 weeks ago. Everything was really nice.
The only thing I would watch out for is the chairs. They were ripped and FILTHY. I was afraid to sit. I had to wipe mine down b/c there was dried food or something stuck to it. And they were all like this. I would hope they are replacing them soon.

Just to give you an inside scoop, Chateau La Mer has made a lot of changes. They are not under new ownership (I think someone wrote they were) I used to work there and my future brother-in-law s the Maitre'D there. The food is great. The atrium room is gorgeous. You can have guests outside on the deck for the cocktail hour. And if it is a summer wedding they drive you up in a boat to the dock so everyone sees you come in during the cocktail hour. I have heard bad things about CLM, but have not experienced anything personally. John Anthony's was highly recommended to me when I was loking for reception locations, but my date was not available. The lady I work with is a member of the Babylon Village Women's CLub, and they always do events at JA's and she loves it there.
