I got married at Raphael May 2005, and it was fantastic! We had a wonderful wedding. It would be too bad if they're not allowed to serve alcohol anymore.

Here's a link to my review.

Feel free to FM me if you have any questions!!

ETA: Oops, didn't realize someone already linked to my review above. I'll keep it here anyways in case people don't want to scroll back up.

Re: Need feedback on wine country to hold wedding?

Hi guys - another Raphael bride here (u posted my review - it's #2) - I can't believe that they can't serve alcohol anymore! Are you positive? Their main business is weddings and I think that would pose a big problem for them. I'd double-check it. A lot of the laws that apply to other vineyards don't always apply to them because theirs was built more as a 'catering facility' (only in that it was set up to have an indoor ballroom, they have a caterer on site, etc.) so if you're really loving the place, I'd just make sure.

It is really such a wonderful place to have your wedding - so so great! :)

FM me if you have any questions...

Good luck with your search!

ETA: I've never been but I've heard Wolffer is really beautiful also - I think there may be a review on here for that also.

Thank you so much. I went to Raphael's yesterday, just waiting to hear about the new NYS law and which direction they'll be going. I be happy if they will be able to at least offer beer.

I am getting married at a tented wedding at Paumanok and did A LOT of research if you want to FM me.
In terms of location, I did not think Borghese was very attractive. Wolffer is extraordinarily expensive in comparison to the other places. I loved Pelligrini, Martha Clara, Raphael, and, of course, Paumanok!
For the liquor, the vineyards cannot serve anything but wine, but your caterer will serve it, which is perfectly legal.

Our wedding is at Pellegrini - we love this vineyard...a very natural, relaxed feel, and great wine to boot. If you have questions on specifics - FM me.

I'm getting married at Raphael Vineyard 11/18/06 & from what they told us (the caterer and the wedding coordinator), we can have any kind of alcohol we want--for example, we could have a martini bar, cordial bar, etc. What the caterer told is is that have a catering permit which lets them use the vineyard like a catering hall during certain hours -- like from 8am to midnight. That was one of the first questions we asked when we wanted to book our wedding there.
