Need for Valet???

My venue is saying that if we don't pay for valet services, they will have to hire a person to stand there to direct traffic. Is that necessary? My venue is pretty self explanatory, the parking lot is right there? And it's not very far to walk. I feel like they didn't explain this before and now I'm just tired of having all these additional $'s added on to the day.

Please advise!!

They dont have Valet employees?
Seems random to me-if you dont want the added expense then your guests can park themselves. Me, I prefer to park myself-I dont like the idea of someone having my keys. Especially since they dont lock the car when they valet park it.

I dont think its necessary but I am sure I am in the minority here-people may question you not having valet parking

ETA: Maybe do a search and look up your hall and ask the girls who had their wedding there, maybe they can help you better

Thanks! I've been to a couple of weddings (mostly the ones where there's only one wedding at a time) and had no problems parking myself. At those weddings, I don't recall a valet, or even needed one. I mean the parking is pretty self explanatory at my hall. It's just right next to the hall.

I just don't like being pushed to extra expenses to the day. trying to cut costs where it isn't as important!

Has the BM explained why someone would need to be hired to direct traffic ? Is it absolutely necessary to have either ? What is the cost difference ?
Sounds weird - definitely something I would question.

Valet services came with my RH, no need for us to have paid extra.
