My girlfriend is having a destination wedding and when she gets back she wants to have a reception for everyone who couldn't make the destination wedding. She is flexible on the day, she prefers a Sat/Sun afternoon in late September, early October and wants a hall that is 'different'. She isn't your Villa Lombardis kinda girl LOL. I told her to check out Lands End b/c its on the water, she is the only bride and all the bar and floors are mahogany and she got all excited.
I'm asking all of you for help b/c I am stumped - thanks for all your input!

Re: Need Hall Help
I think the hall with the boat is the Chateau Le Mer in Lindenhurst. There are lots of great places, do you have any idea what she wants to spend or how many people?

Re: Need Hall Help
Here's a list of some different types of places. Is she set on the island or willing to look in the city?
These are all on the island, but I can list a ton more in the city:
Gurney's Inn
Atlantica, West Hampton
Harrison House in Glen Cove (request to see Carmella, do not use Bill Kennedy, I and plenty of others had or are having problems with him-but the place is beautiful).
Nassau Cty. Museum of Art
Edited to add: Port Jeff Country Club
Montauk Yacht Club
Gansett Green Manor, Amagansett www.gansettgreenmanor.com/
Crow's Nest Inn, Montauk
Ram's Head Inn, Shelter Island
There are also several real vineyards (other than Vineyard Caterers) out East.
There are also several bed and breakfasts on the island.
She is inviting about 200 and she figures 160-175 will actually show. She wants something for under $100pp.
Yes it is Chateu La Mer in Lindenhurst - my cousin got married there. Although I thought it was great my girlfriend will hate it.
She wanted to check out Flowerfield but it is too expensive for her (me too and I'm getting married there )Her and FH were going to check out the Land's End website and maybe come in from NYC this weekend to check it out.
Oh and she said no mirrors or murals on the wall LOL.
Edited to say HI JAMIE

Re: Need Hall Help
Julybride: she actually lives in Brooklyn and wanted something in NYC but everything is so out of control as far as prices. She wanted something with a nice view and they all charged a site fee. I think for what she wants she may do better here on LI.

Re: Need Hall Help
You said wood right? Ethan Allen type? A little country or no way? There is a place that my MOH got some nice wood furniture that is nice but more countryish I can ask her. Also on Sunrise Highway in Oakdal I believe on the westbound side there is that All wood furniture place. You might want to check there.
I don't envy doing that- though I do envy the house!

I'm more of the contemporary style kinda girl and so is he but he HATES dark wood and I like it. Dark wood is the only thing out there.
Trust me - you'll have a house soon enough! It happens when you least expect it!
I thank you for offering your help - you're a doll

Re: Need Hall Help
I believe the prices at Land's End are going to be the same or approximately the same as Flowerfield because it is owned by the same people. It's definitely more than $100 per person. Danford's is really nice. It's right on the water.

Re: Need Hall Help
Land's End is under $100, I didn't think that was so? I guess most of the places, except the Crow's Nest, that I listed will be over $100 pp. Crow's Nest is around $65 pp I think. You could do a tented wedding at the Gansett Green Manor and have a BBQ or something through a caterer (the guys at Crows Nest will do a BBQ or Clam Bake there). That could come in under 100pp I think. Hmmmm...under $100. I don't know.
The site fee at the Pavilion in Prospect Park, Brooklyn is $2500, so if you could find a caterer, and I'm sure you could, to do it for around $80pp, you'd be ok. I'm not sure about fitting 200 people though. The site fee for Top of the Times is $3000.
Otherwise you could try Port Jeff Country Club. Hmmm...I'll keep thinking.
