need help!

hello brides i need so much help on finding a honeymoon. my fiance wants sandals negril in jamaica, but i hear alot of mixed comments about jamaica. were getting married in feb and we want some place hot & romantic on the beach with nightlife and water sports. somewhere in the carribean. i have done so much research on this and im getting nowhere. so if u have any idea that would be sooooo great. thanks for your help

I am in the US Coast Guard and have traveled all over the Carribean. I was stationed on a 270ft boat for over a year and we patroled the carribean for two months at a time pulling into all kinds of ports. I hope I can be of some advice, you can show this to your boyfriend. Most people think of the Carribean as this wonderful beautiful tropical place, which in most cases it is. However you have to be so careful when choosing the Island, most of these islands are poor, third world countries with nice resort areas. If you plan on staying at the resort the whole time then it doesn`t matter which one you go to but if you want to explore the island then I would recommend you choose your island wisely. I`m not saying that you will definitely get robbed, or sick or anything like that but the risk is there. If you want my opinion, I would recommend an island that is a British territory such as the British Virgin Islands (Tortola, St. Martin) or Bermuda, the Dutch Antilles are nice (Curacao, Aruba, Bonaire - also known as the ABC islands), and last but not least would be the U.S. Virgin Islands (St. Thomas, St. John, St. Croix). I am looking into St. Thomas for my own honeymoon. I`m not saying that crime and poverty doesn`t exist on the islands I mentioned, it is just less frequent. A resort recommendation in Negril...

My family and I went to `Beaches` in Negril a couple of summers ago, and it was wonderful! Everything was great...the rooms, the food, the shows, the staff, etc. We really enjoyed ourselves! I heard that there is a `couples` resort in Jamaica as well. You may want to find info on that as well.

thanks so much for your advice,my fiance still is hooked on going to sandals negril. and it is all inclusive so we wouldnt be leaveing the resort at all. his friends went there on there honeymoon and said what a great time they had, so i feel if he really wants to go than we will. i will keep everybody posted on it when we come back(in feb). thanks again everybody for your help
