I am starting to think I'll never find a place that I'll like :(
Can anyone help me? I'm looking for a place with accomodations for an outdoor cocktail hour, but with accomodations for an indoor cocktail hour that are also nice in the event of rain. For example, the outside of Westbury Manor is gorgeous, but with my amount of people the cocktail hour would have to be spread throughout three small rooms and I did not like that. By the water would be nice, but not necessary. I also would like hardwood floors throughout the main reception room OR a nice carpet - some of the places I've been had a filthy and old looking carpet which really turned me off. It also has to be big enough to accomodate about 200 people.
I'm also looking for chair covers. I know that's random, but half the places I went to covered it for no add'l costs, some places didn't offer it at all, and some charged extra.
I'm working on a $45,000 budget (plus FH and I are going to be kicking in some additional money, but we're not sure how much yet - maybe $5,000).
Can anyone help me? I'm getting tired of looking and feel like eloping already
As a side note, does anyone think that $12,000 is enough for flowers, a band, the ceremony fee, and a photographer (no video)?

You should try North Ritz Club. They can accommodate up to 350 people and they just re-did the cocktail hour room. The outside is also beautiful, they have a gazebo and tables. They also have a fountain and a small waterfall to take pics in front of.
Of course, i am biased since i am having my wedding there.

Re: Need Help :(
The Estate at the East Wind has a beautiful outside cocktail hour, but it also has 2 indoor cocktail hour rooms (one of which is an atrium) that could accommodate people on a rainy day. I am definitely biased though!

hmmm...have you checked crest hollow or woodbury country club yet? they both have outdoor and indoor cocktail areas. i don't think they provide chair covers though. i think $45,000 should be enough for 200 people. you could definitely make it work. as far as budgeting for flowers, photographer, etc...i think if you shop around, $12,000 should be ok for all those. good luck!

Re: Need Help :(
Watermill does outdoor cocktail hours and has a room off the outdoor area in case it rains. You can even have the food inside and people can mingle outside too.
Again, I am biased b/c we booked Watermill.

Surf Club New Rochelle where I am having mine. We fell in love when we walked in. Cocktail hour is outside but covered by a balcony. Its on the water and the beach is right behind it with a gazebo. You can get married write on the beach. ITs GORGEOUS!!!

Re: Need Help :(
I wish we could do New Rochelle - so many places look nice there. It's just too far for my family - both me and FH are from Port Jeff on Long Island.
For 12000 that should be enough if you do it right. The band would probably be at least 1/2 of that at $6000 but you could probably do photography for $3000 with albums $1000 or less for ceremony and then that would leave $2000 for flowers (which might not be enough depending on a # of CPs). You would also have to tip each band member, the person performing the cermony, the photographer and florist. Also, $45000 should be enough depending on how you budget your per person charge at the RH. If you do $100pp = approx $130 with tax and grat x 200 ppl = 26000 so that plus your 12000 for vendors is 38000 and then you have 7000 left over for your gown, hair, makeup, BP gifts, transportation, and all of the other extras. You also have to take your honeymoon into account as well. Do you want that to be a part of the $45000 budget? It really comes down to the RH and the price per person. Figure whatever your total is for the RH is 1/2 of your budget (excluding HM I think). HTH!

Fox Hollow has a beautiful outdoor area. If it rains, they have a room large enough to accomodate all of your guests.

Re: Need Help :(
Check out HWC.
Our cocktail hour was half indoors and half outdoors. The steel drummers were outside on the terrace - and most people congregated out there and walked down by the lake and the gazebo. A few people wanted to stay inside for whatever the reason and they had that option.
It isn't 'on the water' as in on the Bay or the Sound... but it does have a nice lake. And the food was outstanding. And the service was incredible. And the place was gorgeous.
The price is good too.

Definitely check out East Wind Caterers in Wading River. They not only have beautiful grounds, but 3 different types of rooms to choose from- all in their own buildings, so you never feel like you are 1 of many brides.
If you books things now you will get a better price than the year of your wedding, so plan ahead and you can save some money.
Good luck!
