Need help, and advice...

My FH has a good paying job, company car, company cell phone, good insurance, and a REALLY tough boss to work for. He is at his wits end, and ready to quit. Like TODAY.
I sympathize with his situation, totally, but it really bothers me that he's willing to walk away from a stable job, without having anything lined up (he said he could get side jobs with a friend of his, but how reliable is that?)
I am trying to be supportive and let him know that I agree that he should not have to put up with his bosses cr*p, but I cannot agree on him leaving on these terms.
Let me also say, that because he is doing well, I am only working part-time, and also have a son. My FH is obviously the bread winner of the family, and although of course I want him to be happy, I am a huge bundle of nerves right now.
Any advice?? please!

Re: Need help, and advice...

Oh boy. This is a tough one. My best advice would be to do everything you can to help him look for another job, before he quits this one. Offer to check every paper and all the websites, Hotjobs, Monster etc. If he doesn't have an updated resume perhaps you can help him with that. Be as supportive as you can. But I would remind that with the job market the way it is right now, quitting a job on bad terms is not the way to go and quitting without something else lined up is extremely dangerous financially. Side jobs don't always work out and often aren't things you want on a resume.

I hope things work out for you.

Re: Need help, and advice...

I think he should find something else before he quits. I don't think side jobs is a good idea until something comes along.Would that leave him with no health insurance for the time being? That is also something to think about. I also don't believe in ever leaving a job on bad terms. You never know when you may need a reference & its a small world,he may come across some of the same people in the future. Good luck.

Re: Need help, and advice...

No, he can't switch departments. He would always have this man for a boss. And yes, he would be without health insurance

Re: Need help, and advice...

I would try to get him to hang in there then until he has something else lined up.
It is tough to find jobs right now. You don't want him to be without health insurance.

Re: Need help, and advice...

I understand where he is coming from, but take this from someone who has been out od work for 6 weeks. The economy is tough and it is dificult to find a job. Some weeks there isn't a place to send my resume because they are just not hiring. He needs to sit tight for a bit until the economy improves, cause if he leaves and can not find something thats even worse.
